I was just wondering how everyone keeps up with intervals @ 20hrs and 8hrs on the 2 drivelines i have for my finish mower and tiller i was wondering if these intervals are overkill?
my tractor book says every 8hrs or daily for the tractor grease interval..

also is the moly grease better than std? i use tractor supply's moly but i seen they have mystic grease.. which grease is best for tractor drivelines/general use?

I use Amsoil synthetic and grease according to the Owner's Manual...every 50 hours for the tractor and the FEL. My Lincoln cordless grease gun makes this chore less onerous. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I use the moly type grease not sure of the brand I bought last. It is better for wear resistance at high pressure points. I tend to go on usage and not hours. grease is cheap insurance for your tractors wear points. watch a construction site and durring down times the operators are out greasing their machines, checking fluid levels. it doesn't hurt to add grease before the hour time recommended.

When I first got my skid steer I used the standard grease. In a day or two of hard use the loader arms were getting louder. Then you would grease them up and they would be fine again for a short time. When I ran out of the regular stuff I bought the higher-grade moly grease. I could tell the difference on the loader arms. It seems to last longer. I agree with Steven. My excavator buddy keeps a pump in his backhoe and greases it daily or when the joints start asking for grease. I don’t worry too much about the hour meter. When joints don’t look fresh or are getting louder in the case of a loader hit it with the moly grease. Use the hour meter as a go around and make sure everything is grease check. Sooner is better than latter. Also my kubota dealer told me to grease the tractor after pressure washing it off. He said water pressure could displace the grease so be careful.

I used Amsoil synthetic grease and oil. I grease my BX22 tractor (1-point) every 50 hours and the loader and backhoe every 10 hours per the manual.

John Deer HD Special Purpose Moly Grease (silver canister) is special stuff, according to my friend a career bulldozer man.

Re: Grease.. Keeping up with intervals and best br

I used to think grease is grease. However, experience has taught me that grease quality varies widely among manufactures.

I use grease made by Schaeffer's Specialized Lubricants in St. Louis. The stuff is harder to find but worth the search.
I think you'll find more information at schaeffersoil.com or bobistheoilguy.com
