True. I remember when we used Trich daily and never wore gloves. That stuff was bad. MEK we still use but use MPK more.
I always use gloves for that stuff.
That is why Iso Alcohol is used these days for degreasing it is more friendly.
Hey Aeroshell 14 is Calcium based wonder if it is bad for you??
I get a kick out of reading old aircraft mechanic's stories and experiences. I too spent way too many hours without protective gear exposed to Hazardous Materials such as Methyl Ethyl Ketone (MEK), Carbon Technichloride, Trichlorethylene (TCE), Powdered Asbestos, and many others.
I started in the Aviation Business full time in the USAF in the 1950s channeling out on the Boeing B29. After 6 years in the USAF working all over this planet on everything that flew, or wanted to fly, I continued in civilian life both flying or wrenching and finally retired after 50+ years. I finished up (am still involved) as an Aviation Consultant spending a lot of time all over Russia (on both sides of the Urals and all over Siberia) evaluating and consulting in aviation factories. I held most FAA Aviation Certificates on the Flight and Maintenance end plus was an Independent DME (Designated Mechanic Examiner, Airframe and Powerplant)
