Kioti CK2620
I finally got tired of my Kioti CK2620 puking grease back on me after disconnecting my grease gun. I have a lock and lube end on my grease gun so it's not coming from there. It's coming from the factory Kioti brass grease zerks check valve not seating. I replaced them today with good cad plated steel ones on my loader and front axle. Then I put grease zerk covers on them from amazon to keep the water and dirt out.

Defective Alemite fittings can be a pain. ("greasers" where I grew up)

They are meant to be replaced when bad, but who does that? (YOU DO!)
I've got a few that spurt, I just leave the gun on until the pressure drops. Say, count of 10 or so. That makes removing the grease gun easy as well! Those "chuck jaws" in the gun fitting lock up when under pressure.

I'm thinking they go bad because 1. they are made of soft brass and 2. The dirt and water that gets pushed into them and that can't be good for the pins and bushings either.

they go bad because well meaning "lubricators" fail to CLEAN the fitting and gun prior to giving the squeeze.

Oh, and setting out in all weather , having been neglected and dry, doesn't help.

Rust never sleeps!

Those caps are a good thing, I need to get some!

I had to replace a handful of mine the last time I greased it. One of them on the backhoe was smashed in-likely from me punting a rock or tree.

The fittings I replaced were all M10-1.

Yep, had that one beat into me as a kid.

Na as a Aircraft Mechanic I have been doing that since I was in the USAF 35yrs ago and have been working on airlines for 27yrs. Aircraft Maintenance 101.

It's the soft brass zerks that gets deformed by our steel tipped grease guns then the check ball doesn't reseat.

But yes you can leave a glob of grease on the nipple that can be wiped off before greasing.

That's the reason auto mfgs no longer put grease zerks on their parts. A lot of people or lube shops just push the dirt and water right into the part destroying it.

I've got the A&P ticket in my wallet as well.

Been lots of years without exercise though ;-)

Dirt or rough use, all take a toll.

Hopefully your caps hold up better than the ones I ordered from AMZ (they look the same). I put them on every zerk to minimize the dirt build up but ended up removing them within a month as 90% of them wouldn't stay closed on the zerk.

Hopefully yours work better
