Greasing Center Spindle On MMM????

I can't see a way to get to it while mounted. Might be possible with a 90 degree fitting so I have one ordered.

But I got to wondering about if it might be possible to drill a hole in the tractor floorboard directly above it and use a longer fixed tube. I haven't explored it yet to see what might be in the way. Thoughts?

No doubt about it. The center spindle on my JD 750 mmm is a PITA. I have a manual grease gun with a 12 inch flexible hose. Still is not any fun but it is doable. Would be much easier if I had a helper. I could hold the fitting - tight on the zerk. Helper could pump the gun.

OK - so I just got back inside from greasing the three spindles on my JD 570 mmm. The outside two - quite easy. The zerks are pointed outward.

The "thingey" I thought was a grease zerk on the center spindle - IS NOT. It's some form of chrome plated high rise fixture lock nut. All of a sudden I realized there were three of these chrome things on the center spindle. No way there would be three grease zerks.

Back in the house. Look at the owners manual. There it shows the zerk for the center spindle. Facing forward.

I had to take the flexible hose off the manual gun and put it on the DeWalt electric grease gun. Finally - I was able to get the Fit-N-Clip to hold on to the zerk.

You had better believe - if the zerks on my Kubota were this difficult to service. I'd be looking for some way to change them all over.

Three damn zerks and I'm filthy as a pig. DAMN - I even got black grease on the top of my head.

A two handed (one on the hose, one to pump) gun sure works better than a three handed gun. It is the whole reason I bought my 2-handed gun. For greasing everything else I can use a old school gun.

Do the center spindle with a ridged bent tube grease gun on Woods RD7200. All spindle bearing zerks straight up. After 26 years the lower bearing on the center spindle failed this year. Bearings are taper rolling type. Rebuilt with new bearings and seals. Careful, too much or too often grease will push out seals.
