The Joseph H Thompson articulated tug/barge in the Soo locks
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Here's another snow shot for you guys, coming to us from the Soo Locks... If you follow along all of our posts here you'll know that Bill shared a video yesterday of the Laura L VanEnkevort/Joseph H Thompson articulated tug/barge, rolling while at anchor just outside the Marquette pier waiting her turn to go in to the dock while the Manitowoc and Kaye E Barker were both loading... Well this is them in the Poe Lock during the same snowy night that Captain Feinman took a photo of the Jackson here in the locks (another photo shared by Bill via Captain) So this was taken on their way over to Marquette... It comes to us via our friend Matt Tomasek who is aboard right now... I can safely say they have shifted and are now at the dock in Marquette loading so no more rolling! It stopped after awhile yesterday and Matt said while it was a wild ride all was fine and no one was injured... Some cleaning needed to be done in a few areas but nothing major thankfully

I was really hoping to get some shots or video of them when they arrived on this day because they rarely come up above the locks.. they do the majority of their trade route down below, but of course as my luck would have it they arrived at night... Here's hoping it's a daylight transit back but somehow I'm guessing I won't be so lucky lol

Anchored in the cold:

This morning was cold and breezy as we prepare for a second potential blizzard within a week. Less snow this time but winds 40-50mph here in Duluth while places along the North Shore will see winds of 60mph. Captured here is American Spirit (closer) and Indiana Harbor (further) anchored in the lake. American Spirit anchors to wait out the storm while Indiana Harbor waits to load in Superior. Currently there are 11 ships either in the harbor or anchored out in the lake. The classic laker Alpena is set to arrive later this morning!
