Great lake boats, a good video

The Sam Laud up-bound at the Soo heading for the Algoma steel works. Who says boats quit working for the winter? Seems all his paint would be scrapped off.

Did they only close the big Poe lock? I'm assuming because that ship is only 600' or so it can use one of the other smaller locks?

The locks are closed for maintenance and I'm not all that familiar with Sault Ste. Marie but I'd guess steel mill is below the locks. The Soo is quite a ways from us and it was like 20 years ago the last time we visited there.

The algoma mill is above the locks I believe. I remember talking to a local old-timer , funny story Sault MI didn't want the mill built in Mi because of air pollution etc.
Sault Canada did want the mill and everytime there's a north wind the smoke and dust blows over to Sault Mi.

The barking James Baker arrived in Duluth MN yesterday for winter tie up.
