Try calling Jim at Emerich Sales in Charlton NY. !-518-399-8574 I found his pricing and service to be the best in the area. Dont bother trying the NH dealers the prices will meet or exceed what you see in VT. For me a long distance purchase with a low price worked best.

JE,
I am surprised at Walt's. I have a summer camp up in Ryegate. I usually pick up the Green Mountain Trader for 50 cents. Walt's always had multiple ads and I remember thinking the prices were very low. I took a drive up there last summer but they were at the Lyndonville fair that weekend so I never spoke with them.
I wonder if his prices have changed that much over the winter. When we open the camp I will have to get the latest paper.
I considering buying from him based on those ads once I had decided on the BX2200. But I went with a dealer in Milford NH to support a semi local dealer. I agree that NE prices are high. I paid 12,795 in March for the 2200, 54"mmm and FEL.
At a farm show I met the owner of Townline Equipment in Plainfield NH and he had similar prices. You might try them.

Good luck

Phil

I have two comments. First I have owned a BX2200 with 60 inch deck and it did a superb job , better than a push mower,on my yard.It hardly ever scalped. Since it is suspended from the BX, it never leaves wheel ruts (from the deck) in wet conditions. Started and ran great. second don't be like me and save the FEL for later, if you are married, the talk of FEL later talk may forever be just that.

The only machine that comes with a folding ROPS is the BX22. So if you wanted that you have to pay for it and my guess is it would be at least $300.00

Thanks for the leads on better prices in northern New England, NY area. Rammelt & Sons in Westfield, NY has the BX2200 witha 60" deck for $9,750 - my price locally was $11,300. That's a huge difference. My local guy says they sell 50-60 units/year and in a town of 8,000 - that seems like a lot. I think dealers pay the same invoice price no matter what - maybe there's dealer incentives for volume dealers, but it can't be that much...

My pile of dung Craftsman disappointed me for the last time today (the deck lift lever broke completely apart) so I am going to find my best deal immediately and beging working on getting my lawn back in shape.

Anyone want a 2 year old 16 1/2 hp kohler, 46" deck, hydro drive Crapsman? I mean, Craftsman? I feel bad because my dad got it for us as a house warming gift but the thing simply doesn't get the job done. It would probably be fine for someone who mows a perfectly flat, totally dry acre but that's about it.

I have heard from more Kubota supporters here than JD, it seems, but everyone agrees that they are pretty equal machines and both would handle everything I need except a back hoe, which I don't need. I know of a used JD4110 I could get for around $10K - it's a newer model but seems like more than I really need.

I'm still looking around for the right deal - I'll keep you all posted.

Thanks,
JE

JaimesEarl,
If you like the price from Rammelt & Sons I would strongly reccomend calling Jim Crane at Emerich Sales in Charlton,NY. He will definitely be in the ballpark pricewise. I know when I bought my BX22 about a month ago he was only $100 dollars more than Rammelt & Sons. He may even match the price! He did good by me and i'm sure quite a few other people on the TBN website. And furthermore, not to start a brand war but I too inquired about both orange and green. The dealer I stopped by sold both and he convinced me to go orange. Kubota machines are all Kubota (engines,axles,et.). Plus for the similar machine in green it was a couple of grand more. Good luck in your shopping! Emerich's phone # is (518)-399-8574.

I didn't feel like waiting a month, or traveling over 100 miles, or paying $1,500 min. more for the JD 2210 so I got the orange BX2200, with a 60" mower deck - plus I also got a 6'x10' single axle trailer - for $11,000 US dollars, plus tax. I know I could have paid less at a different orange dealer, but not much less and not without additional considerations.

Thanks again for all the input. I am now a loyal fan of this site!

JE,

Congrats on the new tractor! I'm sure you'll enjoy it and wonder how you got along without one. It's amazing the things you can think of to do with one when you have it.

The decision process for buying a tractor is definitely a tough one as I'm sure many here can attest to. We all agonized over which color, which implement, HP ratings, etc. Like you, I came here seeking advice an opinions and the folks here helped fill in the gaps of my tractor knowledge.

Anyway, congrats and good luck! Enjoy your new tractor.
