You can mount and have operational on a JD a fel, a mmm and a backhoe at the same time. You cannot have a backhoe and a mmm on a Kubota or NH at the same time and have them both be functional, as far as I know. A subframe hoe will interfere with a mmm on a Kubota; and a 3ph hoe on a Kubota will lock a mmm in place so it cannot be raised or lowered althought it can be on the tractor.
The virtues of a mmm vs. a rmm have been outlined by others, and elswhere on this forum, many times. The JD mmm is relatively easy to remove, but not something you would want to to frequently.
As to tires, I believe the turf tires on the JD might actually have a larger diameter than the R4's, and hence provide more ground clearance, depending on what size JD you are getting. Check this carefully with your dealer. I have R4s on my Kubota 2910 and dont like them. If I were doing mostly lawn work, as I do, I would go with turfs. If I were doing mostly field work, dirt implement engaging work, and/or fel work, I would go with R1 ags.
One other thing on the JD mmm. It is controlled by a cable connected lever that is quite cheesy and that has been widely criticized by JD owners. It doesnt return to center position properly, is difficult to feather, and the handle frequently comes off in your hand. This is being remedied in the new 4010 series.
I think anyone who wants to buy a JD now would be well advised to wait a month or so to see exactly what the new series offers. If you like JD, you might like the new series a lot better and be sorry you didnt wait. My nickel.
