Don't get me wrong now there is nothing wrong with your greenhouse it's just not exactly what I have in mind, if it's in your back pasture do you heat it with gas or not at all?

I agree I would want something more aesthetic pleasing if it were planned to be near my home.

I'm thinking I want to do a barn style house no PVC or hoop style while functional it's not asthetically pleasing at all.

Are you planning to use ONLY PT lumber?

Boy, lots of possibilities... from cheap to expensive, and lots of DIY ideas. Here is a thread on my adventure erecting a Harbor Freight Greenhouse with lots of mods. Added reinforcement, auto water, power, auto ventilation, etc. Might give you some good ideas on what you want in your greenhouse depending on your attendance. I travel for business a lot and sometimes haul the wife along so I try to automate my house and garden as much as possible.

Here is the one I am currently building for my wife. It still under construction so there is a mess around it. The greenhouse is 10' front to back and 16 wide. I am putting double doors on the front to get larger items in. I picked this style so that in the future, if wife does not want it,, I can turn it into a nice size garden shed. The plastic has so far witstood winds of close to 100km/h. It may not be aesthetically what you want. I will also be running power to mine for some lighting and a couple of lights. I am going to run water to the building and collect rain water from the roof runoff.

No, from what I read PT lumber is not allowed in a greenhouse the condensation dripping can poison the plants. Plan right now is to lay down a crosstie base then a PT 2x6 bottom plate and build up from there. Bought the crossties and some #3 2x4x12s today for cheap.

Size for now is tenatively 14x10 could change at anytime, tomorrow we set out trying to make our minds up where it will go.

If for "esthetic" reasons you use the pine as in the picture, you will be forever fighting rot.
My dad used spruce, and was forever sanding and painting, to keep ahead of the rot.
When he passed, I tore it down, and built a larger, galvanized steel bow house.
Very efficient, with two plastic sheets, and air blown between. Easy to heat, with air between the plastic sheets acting as an insulator.
If you only want a greenhouse for Spring use, then the one pictured will work. Rot will begin to show after a few years though.

Started today got the "foundation" mostly finished. Few more stakes to drive then I can start framing. May do that tomorrow or I may do something else.

Hello, walking in late to the discussion... But we build a lot of greenhouse roofs here in the tropics to protect crops from the rain and sun. Galvanized metal is the best material here, I tend to build big gable or shed roofs with 2x2 square tubing, but other people use c-purlins or round tubing also. The hoop houses from round galvanized are popular too but it's difficult to make those big enough to drive a tractor around inside of it. It's nice when you can drive a tractor inside the greenhouse. Wood, bamboo, and pvc all get used but don't last nearly as long as galvanized.

Someone told me that you can make an insulated greenhouse by putting bubble wrap in between 2 layers of film or polycarbonate, and this way you don't need a blower. Sounds like it'd work but never needed to try it here in the tropical climate.

Good luck!

PS
Avoid the duct tape!
