My name is Rusty Carr. I'm 62, retired from a day job as a computer "IT" guy (and a hobby job of ski and snowboard instruction). I have a hilly (up to 30 degree pitch) 1 acre homesite in Mount Airy, MD that I hope to eventually grow hemp on and do some upgrades. I also have some drooling neighbors who need some extra horsepower. I'm currently in the process of clearing 10K square feet of "woods" that was more poison ivy and invasive species than woods. I have a deposit down on a used 2020 model Bobcat CT1025 with loader, belly mower and backhoe (it's a rental unit). It's my first step up from a garden tractor. I plan to use my tractor for various improvements to the property and hobby farming chores. I was going to buy a new Deere 1025R but this is going to turn out about 1/3 less. I've been lurking on this and other forums to learn as much as I can because the only thing I know about real tractors is that screw ups can cost real money and serious injury. My first attachment is an augur. Had to choose a tool that's a pain to work with. Also have to redo fencing. I'm also looking at miscellaneous things like a hitch attachment to tow chippers, stump grinders, etc around the lot (without having to unhook the loader or backhoe), pallet forks and digger teeth for the loader. I don't think I'll need 3rd function hydraulics (e.g. for a thumb on the backhoe), but there are potential jobs where it could help.
