Tractor
JD 2038r
I have been lurking for a while; finally ordered my new JD 1025r. Should be here in another week or so. But I am not new to tractors, or John Deere. Grew up on a farm, and spent more than a few hours on John Deere equipment. A couple highlights:

I was mowing the lawn on our farm at age 6. This is an old Model 56 mower:

And then this gem...we had an old Model MT that we used around the yard, some utility work, and for the PTO driven grain auger (as all the other tractors were "occupied" during grain harvest). This had a belly mount sickle mower that was used to mow ditches until the early 1990s. Here is a photo of me driving the tractor as we did some spraying in the yard:

Probably TMI. But I have found the forums here to be very helpful. Perhaps someday someone will ask about something that I have some experience with, and I will be able to help out and pay it forward.

Meanwhile, I wait for my tractor to be delivered...

You're 2nd picture brings back many memories. The single front wheel JD. We called them "beet tractors". I grew up in Ne, and spent many an hour 2 rowing corn etc. Worked for BIL summer I was 15. He had the last A sold in Holdrege before the 50 & 60's came out.

"Beet tractor" is right. This was a sugar beet farm just outside of Moorhead, Minnesota. That MT had a belly mount six-row row crop cultivator. Of course, over time, we got to the more modern beet equipment:

It's here, it's here...it's finally here. Delivered today. Didn't get much time on it, but should get some quality seat time this weekend.
