Got a lot of firewood to move...
I guess will go ahead and put a T into the top port closest to the controller handle, plug the other top port on Saturday and see what happens when I connect the cylinder hoses to the T. Unfortunately, the right cylinder hose does not have a swivel in it, e.g., it is just like the left one was...so am hoping there is enough slop in the hose I can get it off without having to cut it as it seems to be in good shape...even if I have to replace the hose, really need to get this resolved and going down quicker than it is now or will not get all this wood moved till spring at this rate... Thanks for help, will let you know how it turns out ...and check forum occasisionally just in case you have any other ideas or questions.....

I pull the top of the lever toward me to lift the bucket and push it towards the fender to make it go down....slowly down, unless I shut the tractor off....

VA,
if pushing away is to lower with loader on the ground and tractor off carefully remove the four screws holding the end cover closest to the fender. Cover should not be spring loaded but use caution anyway. This cover may have some crud packed in it over the years preventing the spool from moving fully.

Do the test of putting the cyl hoses in a bucket first and see if the valve is a normal DA valve.

Will do.........going to put swivel fitting on both ends of the hoses running between the cylinders and the controller and test out everything so can see exactly what is coming out of which port when lever is pushed and pulled...Thanks again, know what I am looking for now...and hopefully have all the answers for you on Saturday night...

I now think it is plumbed right. The valve is just a SA valve with 2 work port. The spool is opening and closing both ports at the same time, just one way is pressure and the other is dump. He has blockage or not full travel on the dump side.

As soon as he does the test, we will know.

If it was a normal DA valve plumbed the way it is the loader would never lower, there would always be pressure to one of the lift cylinders.

I looked at those valves, how do you think they are used?
