Grinding and flying Sparks

On one of the many work on car shows I used to watch, I saw a guy put his initials on the rear passenger window with masking tape in some old car.

He then ground a piece of scrap shooting the sparks directly onto the window. Took off the tape, looked pretty good!

Blue painter tape and spray around wid sodium silicate base cleaner takes far less work.

That's easier than sand-blasting to etch glass? Hmmm ... (BTDT w/sand and w/acid )

My guess is that it didn't look good for very long. The metal particles fused into the glass surface are a great breeding ground for rust blooms.
