I've also seen the heartbreak of a lifetime of planning like with my High School teacher... well loved and respected across the board... what a great guy...

He retired with a big send off... his students bought tickets for Hamilton as a send off he retired on a Thursday and Saturday was the show... he missed the show as he suffered a massive heart attack Friday in his sleep...

His bucket list was long and he had planned a family vacation for kids, grandkids and extended family...

It does make one think especially since I have been going to a lot more funerals of late...

There is a lot said to be going out on your own terms...

I can remember when Dallas had an officer shot and killed on what was to be his last day at work. He was retiring at the end of his shift that night. We just never know when we might go.

My doc told me to eat more seafood. Yes, Sir! He said the best kind is the seafood I catch myself. The wife and I had ling cod Friday night. Yeah, bragging just a little. Ling is not easy to catch. First you have to catch another fish, then the ling will swallow the first fish, and if you are careful you can land it. It's one of the best tasting fish in the world.

If you want to grow old with dignity, do it with a fishing rod in your hand. Doctor's orders.

Of course you're right about catching ling cod. My brothers told me of catching them the same way, but I only caught one, and that was trolling a Texas Jig around Rugged Island in Alaska.

Salmon for me. High in Omega 3 fatty acids. Three or four times a week. 15 minutes prep/cook time always under $6.

After a 70 yrs on this planet I can honestly tell you that I have never, ever, eaten anything that lives in water that I have enjoyed.
An hour after you've eaten...you're hungry again!
What's the point?
Steak? I'm your guy!
Yard Bird? I'll get the plates and flatware.
Fish? No but thanks anyway!
Shrimp, lobster, crab? Nope, but you go ahead.

These days I rarely have red meat. . Here’s a strip loin I had one night last week. I’ve ditched the barbecue. Did this in a cast iron fry pan and finished it in the oven. 10 minutes total.

Scallops, fish and steak, good stuff and I'm never hungry after I eat any of it. I eat one meal a day and have for the last 40 years Perfect weight, all vitals are in check and blood work always comes back perfectly, if it isn't broke I don't try to fix it..
