I recently purchased a GT14 with power shift. It has a slight leak in the differential and I want to add fluid but I'm not sure what to add. I have not received my owners manual yet. ?Can anyone help out?? I also have a starter which can get finicky. I have to tap on it every once in a while to get it to turn over. Any help here? Other than that I like the machine just fine. Runs well and has a lot of power for 14HP.

pmarsh513,

The GT14 was the garden tractor which I think evolved from the YM146/YM147. These were small 2 cyl diesel compact tractors with the powershift transmission. The YM146/YM147 used hytran type fluid in the transmsission/differential. This is a combination tractor hydraulic and transmsission fluid compatible with John Deere 303 fluid. You can get it at WalMart among many other places. Just make sure you get the universal hydraulic/TRANSMISSION fluid, not the (just) hydraulic type.

P.S. I've heard of, but never seen one of these GT14's. Can you attach a photo of it to one of your posts?

Thanks for the info. I don't have a picture of it yet but I'll try to get one and attach it.

Sounds like you probably have a sticking brush in the starter, however, it could be almost anything, loose wire, etc. causing an electrical "open".
