I've got this JCB. Looks like I might need to redo the steering cylinder. Fine. Done some others so this won't be an issue......except, there is some "wire" that is curled in there (see picture).

Anyone ever do something like this? None of my other cylinders have this wire so I don't know what to expect. (maybe nothing!!)

Any issues or tricks on taking it out correctly/easily?

How about replacing it correctly/easily??

Regarding replacement, the replacement kit shows the new wire to be STRAIGHT, not curved.... how does it get properly bent?

You need to rotate the gland till you can see the little tab of the wire though a small hole. Then you try to pull the wire while you also rotate the gland.

Yes, the new wire will get bent once in place.
