I've been talking to a guy in North Carolina that said he would replace the seals for $250. I looked online and the seals for less than $3 at Yesterday Tractor. https://www.yesterdaystractors.com/Ford-555E_Fuel-Injector-Seal-Kit_C5NE9F596A.html
I don't mind spending the $250, but it does make me nervous sending it that far and stressing over it coming back or getting lost. I would feel a lot better if I could drive to the repair shop and drop it off in person.
He also said that he didn't have time to do a full rebuild, and that it was extremely complicated to rebuild that Injector Pump.
My other option is to buy a rebuilt Injector Pump from a company that has them ready to sell. Cost is based on them getting my pump in exchange, and if I remember correctly, in the $1,500 range.
The local dealer told me then send their pumps to a place in Shreveport. The mechanics that I talked to said they didn't know the name of the place. That didn't make sense to me, but I didn't push it. I've done a couple searches for a rebuild shop in Shreveport, but I haven't found it yet. Shreveport is like Dallas. People use it to describe two dozen different cities that are all next to each other, so it might be in Shreveport, or it could be another city. I'd prefer Texas, but Shreveport is only 80 miles away, so that might be my closest option if I figure out the name of the company.
My next step is to remove the Injector Pump. I need to get my engine to TDC, lock the pump by tightening a bolt that I still haven't found, so it remains timed when I go to put it back in. According to the mechanics, the timing is very hard to get right when installing a new pump.
