Purchase a safe that is larger than you think you will ever need. Dont go cheap on something that will secure expensive things. The peace of mind when youre not home is worth it!

All my guns are shooters, not collectibles, so I just bought a Stack-On locking steel gun cabinet and keep an inventory with photos and serial numbers in the safe deposit box for my homeowners insurance. My security system consists of three large dogs, one of which has a history of eating intruders. If we have a fire, the loss of a few guns will be way down the list of things to be concerned about. I do have a fire safe, but it only contains documents.

I have had a Fort Knox fire safe for years, they make a good product but they are not cheap, I wouldn't hesitate to buy another one.

appears that one only has locking lugs on the door side.

all mine have top, and bottom and door.. one has the hinge side too.

Yea, my Cannon has locking lugs on 3 sides of the door too. It also has glass relockers that break if someone tries to hammer the door/lock open that require a pro to open and supposed to have the hard steel balls around the lock area to avoid drilling. I don't know what gauge the steel is in my safe but I don't think you could get thru it with an axe.

Cannon.

Like I said, it'll keep the kids and the guys on meth out, but give someone who has an idea of what to do and 15 minutes, and they're in. You'll find that the case with most safes you can buy at Costco or Tractor Supply. There are numerous pics floating around on the Winchester safes.

I've been looking at Winchester because TSC has some on at a good price right now.

They seem to be just as good as the high priced ones at the gun shop in San Antonio.

Reviews online were pretty favorable.

Any info on Winchester safes ( aka residential storage containers :D)?

yep.. I like my cannon safe too.

I think, for the most part.

the average thief is not gonna get in.

anybody, with enough time will get in.. either an abrasive wheel, plasma cutter or demolition blowtorch.. eventually, it will yeild.. but for the smash n grab.. it's a force field almost..
