I was glad to see that there seemed to be attention paid to safety... although that many people with live ammunition would make me nervous anyway.

Myself, I'm a one shot-one kill kind of guy.... But, I understand firepower intimidates humans... and you want them running if they are shooting at YOU.

That was an interesting video. Thanks for posting the link. I hadn't seen or heard of that place before. I'd sure like to go, I'd fit right in with those people.

Thanks for the link, I'm in the process of moving to Kentucky and will have to add this to my list of things to do.

Do you think that range could qualify as a superfund site? I'll bet they could mine lead.:)

Hiya,

I have a few friends that make the trip every year, sometimes I tag along. Nothing like the sound of a crisp running MG-42 for me.

I had planned on going this year but a few weeks ago I was at my friendly class 3 dealer and well, those new mufflers in the case looked so lonely, I had to adopt one. Just waiting for the postage stamp....

We were there for one of the fall shoots after an especially dry summer and they had to halt the shooting for a while to put out a fire in the woods that an errant tracer round had started.

We were also there one time when they were hyping up this RPG with a non-explosive round that they were going to fire off. There was a huge crowd lined up when the guy walked out to fire it off. I don't think it went where he was intending, as it just kind of took off up through the woods at the end of the range headed up the hill. It was pretty much of a let down.

I'd say id goes farther than kentucky rural life.. Knob Creek is more or less a 'mecca' for class III firearms owners country-wide.

You get to see quite a few things there.

Point is though, not many statesoutside of Kentucky, if ANY, would even allow such a place, muchless such a crowd at an event like this.

Wow, great video!!! I spent nine of the longest weeks in my life at Ft. Knox. Pretty country. I even went to Bowling Green to watch some big NHRA Drag Race during that time.

I feel much the same about Ft Benning Ga.

And the drag racing was at Beech Bend Raceway. Used to hold the SportsNationals there.

When I was a kid, I would sneak into a FBI range and "mine" for lead.:D
