I've been to an organized MG shoot in florida. Admittedly not as big as knob creek.. but fun nonetheless with quite a few nice fast ones on display, including some nice lewis guns..

I was glad to see that there seemed to be attention paid to safety... although that many people with live ammunition would make me nervous anyway. .

Hm.. large amounts of live ammo don't bother me too much.. Like being at a large gun show.. or around large groups of military or law enforcement... As long as safety is practiced.. 1 irresponsible unsafe person with 1 gun with 1 bullet is more dangerous than 10 responsible people each carrying 2 guns with 13 rounds each IMHO.

Very cool. A good friend of mine has been there and said it was a blast. I need to go sometime. I'm actually going to be in Vegas in a couple weeks and debating whether to go to "The Gun Store" which apparently lets you rent full-autos (only for use in their indoor range).

I did some ROTC in college and on one outing got to learn the M60. I think they allowed us about 50 rds/each, but the belts were short - started with 6 rd belts, then I think you got 12's or 18's to learn trigger discipline. Mucho fun.

Yep.. at first it's cool.. then the realization hits you that you can spend 25$ in ammo in about 3 seconds.

I have a H&R reising model 50 machinegun.. it eats ammo about as fast as a grease gun.. or a thompson... like I said.. kinda cool, till you buy the ammo!

Yep. Shooting my AR's, the cheapest ammo I have (gov't surplus xm-193) cost me $0.38 cents per round to shoot. That adds up quickly, especially from a 30 rd mag...$11.40 per mag.

Soundguy I didn't know you had one of those...Saw one recently on Gunbroker for 5k. Awesome piece!

When you want some real bang for the buck, stop by my place when the Marine Corp Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms is firing the 155mm guns (about once or twice a week for live fire exercises). The ground shakes and the windows rattle (and they're 15 to 20 miles away!). The real fun begins when they drop the 1000# bombs.

wish i had seen a 5k$ H&R model 50! I migha had to get it.
