Locally a big gun show this weekend, how many of you all go to gun shows?

I try to avoid them as I always spend money

I dont go.

Not a gun show, but a big flea market that used to be really good here I would always go to. About 50% of the stands were guns. And the other ones had all sorts of good things. Homemade stuff, antiques, old tools, etc.

But the last 5-6 years it has been disappointing. Maybe only 1 in 20 stands have guns. And most of the time, they are asking more for a used gun than you can get a new one for. And for everything else, better than half the stands are "made in china" stands now. Like going to a HF store, only higher priced.

Don't go much any more, for several reasons. It irritates because they are charging $8 or $10 and it used to be reasonable, or free; the last few times I've gone, they had very few tables. I have gone a lot in the past, and have purchased several guns, mostly from one dealer that I could deal with. I rarely shoot or hunt any more, so I haven't been for a long time. I do spend a lot of time in the Summer with the car club and car shows and such...and have a BIG swap meet coming up this weekend in Wichita...and the weather looks good!!!!

I always wanted to go to the Houston area gun shows when I was working but somehow always missed them for one reason or another. Now that I am retired and my next door neighbor is a big gun freak, we go to just about all of them here in Ark. The last one in December we had 3 tables rented ($65 per table but admission is FREE when you rent a table) and over 50 guns to sell. My neighbor and his brother was cleaning out a closet or two and had a bunch of new pistols and rifles to let go. I couldn't count the number of guns that they have but they are everywhere at my neighbors house and most all are loaded. He did say that no matter where he is in his house, he is never more than 6 feet from a weapon.
I was in sticker shock on the first gun show since I hadn't really priced any guns in over 20 years. Guns that I paid $150 for 20-30 years ago are now worth $500 or more. I like the gun shows just to see what others are selling their used guns for + it also gives me a place to pick up primers and powder that is cheaper than I can get them on the internet due to the HazMat fees.

Never been to a gun show. If I think I need another gun there are many dealers in town.

I have been to several the past year or so in St. Louis. I agree with previous posters ... the new guns are the same or a little higher in price than you can get from any dealer. The used guns are hit-and-miss on availability and what you really want.

The admission is about $10.

But, we typically spend 2-3 hours there so its not a bad use of money for me and my son on a Sunday afternoon.

They are awesome around here! The tables are packed with beef jerky, Chinese knock off cheap optics and tactical gear, some dude sharpening knives and selling a magic gout potion, and usually one pawn shop / gun dealer with all the new guns priced at least 10% above msrp and any used guns at least 25% above what their msrp was when they were new.

I posted in jest but we used to have several awesome ones around here and I loved to go to them, but alas as many things they have seriously gone down hill.

I went to one last Sunday. I heard somebody make the comment "With these prices who needs gun control"
I saw a used Python with a 4" barrel going for $2000. Does anybody rember what they cost 20 or 30 years ago?
