Come on foggy, get real.

That is what kills the fun in posts like these. What about my long squirrel shot in the head (earlier post)? Think I'm lying?

Do I think your lying? Nahhh.....I make shots like the ones you described all the time.

As for the "get real" comment.....that's what I was trying to do.

Now, I never called anyone a liar.....but some stories are harder to believe than others. And...I can eat 50 eggs, and my tractor can pull a 5 bottom plow in peat ground. :D

You know it's not always the "best" shot that you remember the longest. I was 10 years old the first time I ever shot anything other than a BB gun. My dad called me to the front yard, had his .22 rifle (which, incidentally, I still have) and pointed out a swamp rabbit a good ways outside the yard, and asked if I wanted to shoot it. I had followed him around hunting squirrels, rabbits, and quail for several years, but he had never let me shoot the gun. In my excitement, I shot over the rabbit, but it just ducked and sat there. So I tried again. With the second shot that rabbit jumped straight up in the air and came back down on its back right in the same spot. When I dressed it, I found that shot had been right through the heart. And when I got home from school the next day, there was a new .22 Remington single shot bolt action rifle and box of .22 shorts waiting for me. I went straight to the creek and got another rabbit (cottontail) that evening.:D

Great story, Bird! I bet your dad was happy, too. :)

Is your second job as a forensic scientist?

My thoughts also thanks I am sorry I even posted it geez.

He must hate watching TV hunting shows when the elk or deer or bear just lays down instead of running into next weeks show because they still have oxygen in the blood or whatever???

well we took my budies 22 bull barel out to a conservation range i put constant 6 in groups at 100 yard, and was able to get a 1 foot spread at 200

iron sights if it was my gun i would expect more but he was getting mad that i was out shotting him the whole range excursion was his idea so he blamed the sights and started trying to adjust them. well it was a good time.

also his some side ways paper at 25 yards in boy scouts more fun than an accomplishment.

i don't play golf

I know I'm late to the post party here but I'll post my best (or luckiest) shot:

Year: 1980
Location: Fort Belvoir, VA
Bow Only Deer Hunting
Area: 9
Weapon: Jennings Genesis Lightning Compound Bow

My first Deer with a Bow I was 13 an it was my second year hunting Deer with Bow. I guess the shot borders on what was the luckiest shot you ever made.

Mom and Dad had Venison on the menu for dinner party they had coming that next week and they really needed a deer. Evening set in and I saw a lone Doe walking through the woods at about 70 yards. I would not have taken the shot today -- 30 years later my experience tells me not to shoot past 30 yards. I was on the ground and I let an arrow fly and heard a thud that sounded like I hit a tree -- I thought I did. So I went to retrieve my as I got closer I saw that the arrow was moving and new something had happened. I found that I head shot the deer behind the ear and the arrow was moving even though the deer was motionless except for the head and neck and so I put one more arrow through the deer vitals and waited for my dad to come help - he was very excited that they would be able to serve Venison at their dinner party after all.

When I was maybe 6 years old my parents and I were visiting my mom's Uncle Wilbur at his farm. Dad and I were walking with my BB gun when I noticed a whole mess of flys in the sun on the side of the white barn. I bragged to dad that I was going to shoot a fly off the barn at 20 feet or so. I cocked the gun, took aim, and lo and behold, one shot, one dead fly. The fly bounced off the barn and onto the bare ground dead. I was dang proud of my shot and wondered if dad was impressed. He said "let me see that (gun)", he cocked it, took aim, and buried the same fly in the ground with one shot. He could shoot.

I have a good sprinting cat/slingshot memory too, but my dad's not in it.
