I've run flails before, but this one is driving me nuts. On anything but the most level ground, it either scalps, or skips. Have tried every position on the top link of the tractor,( 3 positions), and both positions of the mower top link( 2 positions) This mower doesn't have skids, but I just can't imagine that it would make that much differance. Friend of mine suggested adjustable helper wheels on the front of the mower, sounds very reasonable, just set to the lowest setting on the three point, and let it follow behind me. Now it's time for you guys to tell me it can't be done, and why? And if I can, how? I'll tell you now, Befco has not been a lot of help.

You said it does not have skids but does it have the rear roller. I would imagine that if the mower does not have any way to follow the ground, and is only relying on the position of the 3 point, then it would not do a good job. web page

Have you tried running the mower with the 3 pt hitch slightly raised and a lenghtened top link so that it points slightly up in the front. This I believe would allow it to ride on the rear roller and follow the ground contour, just as a Bus Hog type mower does.
