Had any problems with your BX2350?

To date (55 hrs) I have had the mmm belt break and a oil leak in the rear end just above the filter (hairline crack in housing). Dealer has has been great and corrected each issue promptly.

Thanks,
Steve

Dataway,

I installed a cruse control on my BX23, perhaps you could put one on your bx2200.

I just ordered a 2350 with fel,mmm and snowblower yesterday. I have been reading about how much everyone likes there BX for a long time and this thread makes me wonder if it was a mistake to buy one. I have an L3130 for 5 years now with no problem at all. That is why I got another Kubota. Is everyone having this many problems with this model? I hope to hear some good news before I take delivery.

James, you didn't make a mistake with the BX. Remember that folks tend to post only when they're dealing with a problem - you rarely see posts that say "this is my 105th problem-free week with my BX2350". Although that's what it is for me. Like anything mechanical, the BX can have problems but if you have a good dealer they'll usually get fixed. Kinda like Lexus -- nice bulletproof vehicle, but they still have a service department.

Regarding the abrupt reverse let-off, has anyone tried adding a damper similar to what is used on the forward direction?

I understand that the previous series does not suffer from this problem. Is this true? If so, do those machines have the additional damper for the reverse direction?

Another question: Are there dampers available that provide the resistance in both directions? That way the existing single damper could be replaced with one like this.

This is the ONLY on-going problem with my tractor.

The statement is true that the previous series does NOT have the same reverse issues as the current series. I've never driven the new, but a friend recently purchased and described it as "back breaking" if you aren't careful. Mine isn't back-breaking, so I'm guessing that mine is OK.

I have no idea if there are any dampers for either direction. I haven't looked specifically if there is anything under there, but I don't recall that there is...other than the raw linkage, everything is internal to the transmission.

I just spoke to my dealer about the instant reverse issue and he fessed up Kubota knows about the issue and there is no cure.

My feelings on this are that I'm not real pleased both with Kubota and myself for missing this issue when I test drove the tractor. In my defense the problem is most pronounced at high RPM and I didn't run the tractor that way when I tested it before purchase. One of my neighbors has a ealier BX and it doesn't have this issue. Everyone will have to make their own decision whether the abrupt reverse matters to them. If you mow or work on steep and/or rough ground or if you are not sensitive to machinery (ham footed) you may want to really look at this issue as a safety issue. I am very good with machinery and I have a notch out of my garage where this caught me off guard last winter.

Am I going to dump my BX2350? No, but I am REALLY careful now when using the FEL on steep ground. I keep the RPM lower to reduce the force of the reverse. I also mowed my neighbor's yard for him and he has very steep areas on one edge of his property. Since throttling down is not a option I had to change my mowing pattern to avoid a 2 point turn on the steep as I don't trust the BX under those conditions.

Would I buy the BX2350 again knowing this issue? Sorry to say while I would buy another Kubota I would most likely have gone to a B series to get away from this problem.
