Handicapped Parking Tags

Bird, in Texas where would you find out who the Handicap sticker is assigned to. I do not know which one of my parent rear view mirror handicap sticker is for. My dad had bad knees and a very hard time walking with a cane and has since died. My mother has had two hip and one knee surgery (88) and walks with a walker very slowly. If the handicap placard was for my Dad I guess I need to get one for Mom.

Technically, yes you do. But personally, I've never seen, or even known of, an officer checking that, so I don't know how you or your mother would get into any trouble.

When I worked in downtown Milwaukee several years ago, cars with handicapped hang tags were allowed to park in parking metered spots without having to plug the meter. If taking a walk at lunchtime, one would see car after car after car with the hang tag parked in front of the meters - without paying. And there was no time limit (1 hour, 2 hour, etc) so you would see the same cars parked in the same spots all day, every day. It was an obvious abuse of the system and every now and then the local TV news would try to expose the violators but the problem never seemed to go away.

Moved from WI to TN and while camping with some friends we decided to go to a church service. Us not knowing the area my older friend said he would carry us. Not drive us or take us, but carry us. Still can't get past that lingo.

Not judging but seems strange to see a handicapped tag on a motorcycle. Not often but interesting.

I know someone who has a bike with a sidecar that carries his wheelchair. Its a pretty neat setup.

Where do people use "carried" to mean driven? Just wondering. I had never heard it used that way until I met my MIL from Mississippi.

Welcome to Kentucky English. Just be glad I'm not from Eastern Kentucky. I can't understand them either.

I talk to a young lady in New Hampshire or Vermont on business every three or four months. It takes us a few minutes to get to the point we can understand each other.

I would also like to add that FAT doesn't mean you are handicapped. Like the folks that use the motorized carts at Walmart and hang off on both sides. Let me guess, a thyroid issue? Nope, fried food issue.

If you can get in a lifted pickup you can walk 50 feet farther.
