I need to hang some No Trespassing/Posted signs but I don't want to use nails/metal hangers, etc.

It seems like I remember some sort of composite nails of some kind. I don't think it would take much to hold them up......

Any ideas?

I'll be darned. There is such a thing as a plastic nail.

Plastic Composite Nails

I was originally going to suggest a couple of large cable ties to hang the signs to a fence.

I've used aluminum nails. If someone is cutting the wood in future years your name won't be used in vane if they hit one. Until now I've never heard of plastic nails.

Our snowmobile club uses only aluminum nails for trail signs on trees. We pretty much have to predrill all hardwood & frozen trees. If you use tyraps be sure to get the UV rated ones. MikeD74T

May be different in your area but here a sign put up with nails will be torn down before hunting season. “Honest officer, I didn’t see a posted sign anywhere.” A method I saw that seemed to work better was to cut a section of wire fencing a bit larger than the sign and attach with fencing staples.

Wire around a tree branch?

Fasten it to a post instead of a tree.

We had to put NO TRESPASSING signs on the barn. The guy at the hardware store suggested hanging them 10 feet up. That way it would be harder for the kids to tear them down. They are still there. :D I used stainless staples to tack them up.

I think some aluminum roofing nails would do.....

yeah, i'm sure many of them get torn down around here.......we'll see.......that'll tell me for certain, that people are back there......

i'm going to video them and take pics of them, that way i have proof of and "attemp" to keep people out.....a buddy of mine says that's what his attorney suggested......

I used to use roofing nails.....

Then switched to the nails with the plastic washers. They hold the sign a bit better. The nail really needs a big head to hold the paper. And lost of nails. The idea of using wire fence is interesting....

My signs mainly get tore up by two things. The sun and tree rats. After about two years the signs on the tyvek like "paper" degrades in the sun. It turns brittle. I used to think someone was tearing down my signs. Until I looked closer and you could see little claw marks all over the sign. Sun light and a squirrel handing from the sign does not equal long life for the posted posts. :D

You should check you state regs/laws. In some states if you paint the trees a certain color that is considered a posted sign. Hard to pull down paint. :)

You need to check you state laws on posting. In NC the law is very specific on what has to be done to post your land. The sign as to be a minimum of 120 square inches and has to include a way to contact the land owner. The signs have to be on the corners and no more than 600 feet apart.

Alas in my state a painted tree is just a painted tree unless it is state land. BUT I have started to paint the trees on the property lines. Its just easier to find the line if brush grows up and it makes reposting that much easier. I have been using orange spray paint. This stuff is fading on the trees that get lots of sun. I looked into using what the foresters use to paint trees but that stuff was high dollar. Need to check around other suppliers for this stuff.

the attorney that i bought the land from said i should drive rebar in the ground about 4" back off of the line and make a yearly/family ritual by going out and painting the rebar/fence post etc........on my birthday, the anniversiery of getting the property, new years, etc.....

i plan on doing this.....

i'll check the ohio revised code and see what i find
