Count me as satisfied--The product performs as advertised and the design is consistent with a very low production product that is reasonably priced.

I think that a point that is often forgotten is that PT products are produced in extremely low numbers. Based on the posting on this board the 400 series is the best seller but is supect that annual production of each model is in the tens, or at most a couple of hundred.
I think they sell a lot more red than green, from what I have seen at the factory. Most people on this board are home users, and you would expect them to have the lower cost units. I'll bet the majority of Power Tracs are used in businesses and are run by employees who don't hang out on tractor sites.

However, beware of "silent evidence."

We may have a skewed sample. Everyone who got a good-run PT or is a tinkerer and pleased with the "open-tractor" concept is still posting on the pt forum and thus we get 100% happy responses. It is possible that there are 10-fold "unhappy," but we don't hear their vote because they unloaded their PT a long time ago and have no reason to visit the PT forum. FWIW -- part of my conundrum that has kept me from purchasing a 1430

Back to voting -- nonowner and UNHAPPY (but don't know if I should be)

I don't think many PT's get unloaded because it's pretty hard to find a used one.

Yeah, you get about two a year on e-bay, and maybe eight per year on the Power Trac website. The prices aren't that great a discount to new, either.

While there may be lots of owners not on TBN, there are clearly not a lot of them going used.

Count me happy with the machine but rather unhappy with the high per hour operating cost. 425 burns fuel like crazy and the annoying break downs add up.

When I bought my 422 in Nov 2000, I asked them how many they had sold. They did not know, but the guess was about 4000 total over the years. I am amazed with their relatively low sales, that they can have so many different versions. Of course they way they are made, there is not a lot of added engineering for a new model.

Happy with the way the Power Trac tractor operates. Unhappy with the way the Power Trac company operates.

One more happy. In spite of it all it's still the most productive tractor I've ever experienced.

Sedgewood

If Sedgewood is still happy because it is "the most productive tractor" after his experience, I guess we should all think about that. I have a 2422(25) with about 1400 hours, second engine, pumps replaced, etc. I have never contacted the factory, (bought used). Not much reason to contact them--I get any info I need here. However, I had read everything ever posted here BEFORE I bought so I knew what I was getting into. I did a starter replacement in the woods shortly after I bought--since then, I have welded and rebored pivot points, replaced hoses, etc. All things that tractors require if they are used.
Oh, put me down as happy!;) I would be happy -(er) if I had a really good user and repair book along with a real (not Power-trac) parts list with real numbers. As I find a real number I list it, but it will take a long time this way.

have the 1430 for just over a year and 110 hours and i'm satified with it as well. It has met mine and my wife expectations. We haven't had any major things go wrong (knock on wood) But like JJ and marrt has said the equipment performs well but the company and the lack of support both service and operational that other companies provide leaves alot to be desired. We knew this before purchasing but still felt it was the best "type" of tractor that was versital enough to meet our needs.

OK here we go. How many people would be willing to give how many thousand for how many years to have a turn key dealer service? Say maybe

1500 for 1 year 300 hrs
3500 for 2 year 600 hrs
5000 for 3 year 900 hrs

Don't think about what you would have done but to be fair to yourself what you would do now?

I myself would rather take my chances and save the money up front. Although if the price was low enough I would think about it. Just guessing it would probably be to high for me.
