Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

...when in fact Chicago Pneumatic is quite good.

I use IR and Chicago Pneumatic air tools. I actually prefer Chicago Pneumatic for air ratchets. I love my 3/8" and 1/2" CP air ratchets Chicago Pneumatic 7830HQ 1/2 Dr. Ultra Duty Air Ratchet with Adjustable Noise Control - Toolfetch.com and Chicago Pneumatic 7830HQ 1/2 Dr. Ultra Duty Air Ratchet with Adjustable Noise Control - Toolfetch.com

Not cheap, but it's not often you find "cheap" and "quality" in the same tool.

Dargo, which 3/8 inch CP air ratchet do you have? Your links are both to the 1/2 inch ultra model. CP apparently has about four or five 3/8 inch models. Is there a big difference in capability or just features between the 150 buck ultra and the 60 dollar CP 3/8 version?

I don't know them at all, so I can't comment. HF can keep their earthquake garbage! I think a quality 1/4" will outperform their 3/4"!

I will admit I've searched all over google trying to find reviews about the 1/2" earthquake and you would be the first I've heard to speak bad about it.

I just picked up a HF 1000 gram scale (97920) for about $9. I'm impressed with the quality and it seems pretty accurate based on my weighing several different coins. Probably not accurate enough to weigh powder for reloading, but good enough for most of the small stuff that I'll ever weigh.

I use a scale for measuring adjuncts for cider and wine. (everything is in mg per liter). Some scales also have a counting feature that uses the weight of a single part to count the quantity of parts as you add them to the scale.

Scale are actually pretty useful for something other than drugs...

Oops, I didn't hit that "copy" button again before I pasted. It's the 1/2"'s smaller brother Chicago Pneumatic 7828 3/8" High Speed Quiet Ratchet - Toolfetch.com I never really used both, but tried them in my local supply store. The one I purchased felt smoother and was considerably quieter. It seemed faster, but I have no way of verifying that.

Not to sound nit-picky, but I never mentioned a 1/2" Earthquake. I wouldn't try one on a dare based on my experience with what they consider their much stronger and larger models.

Sorry about that I meant to say the whole earthquake line.

I did buy the 1/2" today and it's way stronger then the 250ft-lb inpact that I have and it uses less air at load then the first one I had... that gun must use like 9 CFM at load with very little work being done.

also funny thing is when I needed a price checked on something a guy was buying one of those 11 hp engines that was on sell anyways the lady was saying I hope you have good luck with it and the guy asked why it's not good? How many things could possibly go wrong with the engine?

Also has anyone used those blue Nitrile Gloves 2-ply gloves? someone got into a box so I put one on.. I have to say they feel pretty darn good like they would hold up well.

I brought a 50 pack from Home Depot and they rip so easy doing car work.

I have the 1/2 earthquake and the only thing bad I can say about it is it is heavy. It is very strong. Say what you will but I will be getting the 3/4 version when I can catch it on sale.

Yeah it's heavy that's for sure..

Anyone try any of the rachets? I was going to buy one today as well but held off until I heard from someone here.

Another thing i wanted to know was does HF have flap wheel grinders for a die grinder?

You missed mine about 9 months ago on eBay. It brought fifty something bucks in almost new condition. Still, it wasn't worth anywhere close to fifty bucks to me. Sorry. Use 'em a lot and it just flat doesn't get the job done.

My IR 1/2" weighs about half as much and puts out almost twice the power. That is just in the ratings. With the Earfquake, the 3/4" piece of junk I had was no where close to having the power of my IR even though it was rated considerably higher. I think the ratings on the Earthquakes are waaaaay over inflated based on real world use. If you want one, look in yard sales or on eBay. You won't find one in any shop.
