Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I use the Costco ones for almost everything. They hold up pretty well for car work, which means I will go through 2 or 3 pairs in a day. I also use them for greasing the tractor & backhoe. They are inexpensive and do a pretty good job of keeping my hands clean.
+1
Costco ones are great. Still wish I could find the source for some I bought 10 yrs ago. They were the best....

A word of caution regarding latex gloves, especially powdered ones - exposure to the latex can allow one to develop a latex allergy which then is something you have to worry about in many situations, especially medical. I almost always use nitrile for "normal situations" like grease etc. Always surprises me when i see dental hygienists, nurses, etc wearing the latex ones.

the gloves I got from home Depot are made by west Chester and they are a 50 pack in a round tube one size fits all (ugh) but they are so powdered that I hate it.

I like the black HF nitrile gloves best they do not rip easy. The latex will last just long enough to grease the tractor and not much else. I save the black nitrile for the longer jobs.

I thought the blue and the black are the same gloves but just different colors?

I looked at them both at the store and the black seemed more durable than the blue.

The Costco gloves are nitrile, they switched over from latex a few years ago.

They come in small medium and large, and are not powdered.

While they are far less allergenic than latex, we all need to take some care to keep nitrile gloves out of the burn barrel. They release hydrogen cyanide (the gas chamber gas) when burned. While ordinary smoke is pretty toxic all by itself, burning a lot of nitrile gloves puts it in a whole new league.

CD--How do you feel about the latex "allergenic" or whatever issues other posts have mentioned? I use latex gloves because my hands are XL and I tear half of the L nitrile gloves I try on. Can't find XL in nitrile and latex seems to stretch more.
While I have never had a problem with latex, should I be concerned?

Few people ever develop an allergy to natural latex. It's really quite uncommon and the risk is probably overstated most of the time. If it were common, everyone in a tire plant or handling tires at the tire store would have a problem. Yes, natural latex (rubber) is still used in tires. If your hands itch after using the gloves, don't use 'em. One of the biggest problems occurs when used by medical personnel. They have no way to know whether their patient is or is not allergic. I know a gent that developed an allergy after working 26 years in a rubber manufacturing facility. He had to retire. 525 others had no reaction, many after 30 years.

I know a handful of nurses that developed allergies after many years and had to take office jobs (insurance companies, etc). One was a highly skilled surgical nurse who was devastated by the allergy. She tried being extra careful but still ran into problems. I also know a few nonhelathcare workers who have the allergy. It is not common to develop the allergy but why take unnecessary risks. I use latex when that is all i have available but otherwise i use nitrile. The nitrile are more poke/tear resistant also. Latex do stretch more. I only buy XL nitrile so you should be able to find them.

My local Harbor Freight has the XL nitrile gloves in blue. I haven't seen any black ones.
