Wow. I didn't realize Goof Off and Jasco Premium Remover contained MEK. I don't recall seeing that on their labels.

I looked at the first of your links.

"Wynne's death was at least the third that has come to light since the EPA proposed banning the chemical. He was using the product Goof Off, according to his family.

"Kevin Hartley, a 21-year-old from Nashville, died while refinishing a bathtub in April 2017. He was using a commercial product called White Lightning Low Odor Stripper.

"In June, a worker stripping a bathtub with Jasco Premium Paint & Epoxy Remover in Huntington Park, CA, died from methylene chloride poisoning. The man wasn't wearing a respirator

No- They contain Methylene Chloride- I just quoted yours to say God Bless about your wife's friend's husband, and tie in the dangers of Dichloromethane [methylene chloride].

Oh. Methylene Chloride. Sounds about as bad. Thanks.

The friend has been overwhelmed with her husband suffering dementia that the VA thought was PTSD. Now the thought she will soon be a widow has her floored. It's not clear if his difficulties started with his Agent Orange exposure, and/or subsequent aircraft refinishing using MEK and God knows what else. We see her from time to time, and each time what she is having to manage has grown more serious.

A close friend died of simple stress just before his 39th birthday. It gave me a new perspective on life, respect warnings of risks. The warnings are based on others' hard-learned experience.

How loud is the $99 dollar compressor? I’ve got an old porter cable compressor that looks about like it, but that thing wakes the dead. I’ve got a portable Dewalt compressor and a portable Senco portable compressor. The senco is stretching the term portable at around 90 pounds. I really should mount it to the old pressure washing cart I have laying around. The Dewalt has a moisture issue I can’t get to the bottom of. Despite draining the tank before even use it literally blows a stream of water out the hose. I can’t even use it to blow off a dusty surface because it turns to mud. My Senco running in the same conditions doesn’t blow any noticeable moisture.

How loud is the $99 dollar compressor? ... The Dewalt has a moisture issue

Assuming this 8 gallon is similar to my HF 10 gallon, 2.5 hp - LOUD. You would want to put it around some corner from where you are working. Mine is beyond the far end of the workbench. Not too bad that way but you don't want to roll it out to where you are working.

I have less moisture than I expected. Draining it after a project doesn't get much out. The $40 filter/water trap had maybe a half cup of water after several hours spray painting.

Setup, FWIW: I got a HF 8ft 'remnant' air hose and screwed that into the compressor output to avoid a restricting connector there. It's much easier to coil that little hose on the compressor and coil the disconnected 25 ft hose separately, compared to wrapping the whole mess around the compressor.

Great idea!
I'm gonna do it!

The older model is not that loud and doesn't spew water, though it does have a manual drain.

I don't know exactly what you mean about wrapping the hose around the compr.??
BUT BE VERY CARFUL.. I accidently left my 26 gal ON overnite w/ the hose draped over the motor..
I was tired & "was gonna" be out there 1st thing in the morning..
I woke up to the shop engulfed in flames.. lost EVERTHING..
The hose got hot & melted.. I'm assuming because the fire started at/on the compressor..

I woke up to the shop engulfed in flames.. lost EVERYTHING..
Oh man I'm sorry to hear that.

I store hose over the handle that sticks out from the end of the horizontal tank, no heat there.

A long hose sometimes got snarled when I went to use it because it didn't swivel at the compressor end. A disconnected, separate hose is easier to roll out before coupling it to the little stub of permanent hose near the compressor.

Yes, don't loop hose over anything that can get hot!
