Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Those nail magnet sweepers on wheels are great. I borrowed one and found an unbelievable quantity of junk in front of my 90 year old barn. Cabinet hinges, latches, small parts, wire fragments, in addition to the expected nails and screws. Obviously a lot of stuff was dismantled or repaired right there, over the years.

A few years back HF had the wand scanners used for airport security at a reasonable price. That is excellent for surveying used lumber before sawing it. I also use it if I drop something in the gravel/grass. Find the object listening for the buzzer, then 'blot' the area with a wide Recovery Magnet to pick it up if I can't see what triggered the buzzer. Sure beats combing through grass on my knees looking for an escaped spring etc.

I just burnt an old dairy barn and they didn't spare the nails. I bet I have picked up a couple of barrels of nails so far.

I was in HF today and they had the 6.5HP Chonda engines for $75 with no coupon - so you can take another 20% off with a coupon. One guy had 3 on a cart, checking out.

I picked up a couple pair of the 3 ton jack stands for $13 a pair. Pretty nice for the money.

Does anyone know if the HF site will tell you if a specific store will have a product or not? I'm going to be heading near the NH store and wouldn't mind picking up a few things.

Huh...I have a set of them too...or are they 6 ton?

The 3 ton are the $13 ones--the 6 ton are in the over $20-something dollar range when on super sale.

I don't buy that much from them but when I call the store and read the item number, they have told me if in stock or not.
It's HF, remember, so the answer might not always be correct. I have never been told wrong.
