MIG Welders and Flux Welders at Harbor Freight Tools

How are the flux wire welders? I was thinking about the 170 amp version
Welding Web has a HF forum. What i gather reading there is the 180 is decent quality (within HF's definition of 'decent quality'), 170 is more a slimmed down cheapskate version, for example it has very few heat settings, but both have a serious limitation: they aren't supported with replacement parts. Might as well buy the extended exchange warranty then after that its a throwaway when something needs service. Also the leads are considerably shorter than a name brand welder so some owners posting there are modifying the welders to meet their expectations.

I might buy one used locally, dunno if I would take the gamble paying full price for a throwaway welder. But read the Welding Web forum before deciding!

Here's one that kinda Does Suck. The big heavy duty C clamp. View attachment 446979

Is that BEFORE or AFTER you used it??? I bought two of them once when they were in a parking lot sale. The stationary clamp pad is not flat, and not square with the frame of the clamp.

Bought a few of these bar clamps for a project and 2 of 4 broke first time I used them.

So, I guess that they don't "don't suck".

They used to give these away with a coupon. They were not worth the price

I finished off my last one when it fell off the bench and shattered.

Agree. They are disposable one use devices. Somewhat useful for holding glued objects but only if only moderate pressure is applied. They break if you squeeze hard.
