Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

I知 gonna take a leap of faith and buy their 800 dollar pressure washer. I need a commercial duty unit, but prefer not to spend 2 thousand at the moment. I致e read the engines are Honda copies.

44 PSI, 4.2 GPM, 13 HP (42cc) Commercial Duty Pressure Washer CARB

I got one of them 13 H P's on my splitter with a 22 GMP pump and love it. The only thing I find is it has a cold cold hart in that it needs some choke unless it's real hot, this is not a complaint just the way it is a nice running engine.

I'm sure it has been mentioned, but I like their Ti-Ni coated step drills when they go on sale.

I've destroyed a few of those with little to no effort. Meanwhile, I've had a regular Unibit (whoever made them) for many, many years that's still going strong. And they're always on sale. One of those perpetual coupon items we discussed a few pages back.

I've got the Northern Tool version of that one, been happy with it. I have no idea how they are getting different ratings on the same CC and same pump (from what it looks like) between the HF and NT version, but, I can tell you, it's got guts. Total different ball game compared to my old 2.5/3000 PSI washer.

AR doesn't even make a pump that's 4400 PSI. I suspect it's the same pump on the NT version that I have. Throws some water/power out there, that's for sure!

I used one bit for a couple dozen flowerpot holes. Now it won't cut any more.

Ceramic pots? I use these on soft materials whether metal or plastic. Even though they are advertised as HSS I don't treat them too harshly. This is my general rule for most all my HF stuff that I don't consider disposable.

Black plastic. Colored plastic. Decorative plastic flower pots that come without holes

Thanks for that.

Edit: I’m not sure the 20% off coupon works with this large of a purchase. So for the 850 plus tax...

I would rather have the other unit with the Genuine Honda GX and the CAT pump, but the price is double. Will it last twice as long? I don’t know.

Bought the Braun 4' LED shop light on sale with coupon for 19.95. Could not get the S hooks in the tiny little hole to hang it. Drilled it out and added another hole about 1/4" away on both ends to make the S hook work but have not hung it up yet on my 14' ceiling. Waiting for my brother to show up as I need to reroute air line.

Just remove the side cover. That's not tampering.

You had to do that to install your bar and chain when you got it.

That clip was fine, whatever was broken was in the motor/drive assembly, which would have taken further disassembly.

Moot point, I brought it back to the store and they told me if I purchased the extended warranty they'd swap it out for a new one. First time I've ever heard of a place that will let you buy the extended warranty after the product broke! So for ~$22 I got a replacement and the extended warranty on the replacement.
As someone else noted, I'm not sure how they make any money, but you can't beat the customer service.

Those Unibit step drills work great for me. I drill holes in thin stock or odd things and have yet to wear one out. Last use was to put a vent of tapered diameter in my plastic gas can. I just kept step drilling until it fit tight. Saved time and jerking around looking for the next size bit. HF also sells a reamer ($5 ?) that is perfect for some uses.

They work well for plastic, wood, and mild steel. They DO NOT work on stainless steel.

I've been using the same 2 pc step drill set for years. I normally use the larger of the 2, and have used it to drill holes in mild steel back cans for electrical conduit couplers when piping conduits and flex into alarm panel back cans. I'm still on my first set of 2, which I bought on coupon sale, for less than $20. The 3 pc set goes on sale more often, but I wanted the 2 pc set for a larger spread in hole diameters with less bits to carry around.

Still satisfied with mine.

I don't remember what all I've used them on but the points are broken off two of the three piece set and at least one has one step size dulled to where it won't cut anything. Both of the two larger ones in the two piece set also have at least one step dulled. I don't know of a way to sharpen them either.

Used my HF step drill set to install a Piranha bar on a buddy's Kioti loader bucket a couple of months ago. Went right through the approx 1/4" steel plate with no hesitation. We were impressed.

Here's what my bit looks like after use on plastic pots.

I did the same on my bucket for the PTB.
