Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Along those lines, I wonder if HF delivers the Icon tool boxes to your home / shop. They ain't a cheap date. Actually, I prefer the Menards big boxes myself.

Has anyone actually bought a tool box from HF that didn't have a dent somewhere on it? Both of mine did. I straightened them myself but it seams like a common theme.

Sounds more like Tractor Supply where everything is either scratched, dented or broken.

When I bought my 44 boxes several years ago, I fully expected dents when I got them home based on everything I had seen online. Happy to say, both were dent free.

1 in. Sliding Compound Miter Saw

I searched this thread and didn't find much about this sliding mitre saw.
Anyone own one and is it ok for basic homeowner use?
thanks Drew

Drew, I have owned one of those for about 10 years, worked it harder than just 'average' home owner use. Cut a lot of pressure treated and regular lumber, plus a bunch of laminate floors. It finally started acting up, the slide getting tight, and turning the base got harder. I still have it, but only use it for those 'not too precise' type projects.

I think it would suffice nicely for your projects.

Ted, thanks. Mostly going to be used for cutting 8 inch cedar boards for bird feeders and bird houses.
Next price point up is about 80 bucks more, I want the "sliding" version so I can cut a wider board if need be.
90 day warranty is dubious, everyone else is 1-2 years.

Yeah, that up grade is well worth the difference....

Drew, you can always get the extended warranty program.... it truly is a "full replacement warranty". I have burned out (let the smoke escape) from a few HF tools.... they replaced them no questions asked. It's based upon price, but for the money, can't be beat. I usually get it on anything over $50....

I have a version of that, my HF spreadsheet indicates that I got it just over 20 years ago. Don't use it very often, but it does what I need. I figured at the time for $100 it was worth having rather than trying to cobble up something hazardous if I ever needed a compound miter cut down the line.
Repeatable angle cuts and being able to set a stop for consistent length alone is well worth it, plus being able to cut wider stuff.

I bought the 12" about 2004 to do a laminate floor in the den with a lot of weird angles. The first thing I did was get a fine tooth Diablo Blade, I think 80 tooth but don't remember for sure. Back then it was around $20. After the den I built a 16' x 24' deck with p.t. 2x6,4x6, and 4x4's and laminate sub structure & Trex decking. Several other projects then gave it to a young Navy friend who was doing a remodel and it is still running strong. The only problem I ever had was the laser light went out but I got along fine without it. My buddy replaced it with something from Amazon and it works fine.
I don't know about the new ones but that old one was a definite yes buy it.
