Harbor Freight Tools that don't suck

Why wouldn't you weld up a real set of ramps out of 2x2x0.25 tube? If you don't weld, pay a local weld shop to do it.

As to killing yourself at 6 feet... break a ramp, flip a 1800 lb scut and accidentally have a steel part on your face with your skull supporting some nice portion of that 1800 lbs and let me know how it all works out for you.

No thanks. Id rather spend a few bucks on tube and zip together a set of ramps that will never bend.

Anyone come up with a decent way to store the impact socket sets that come in the crappy plastic holder ? Other then the normal strips they most people use .

I use the metal strip holders and place them in a HF metal tool box. It holds the regular and deep sockets in 3/8 and 1/2 in both SAE and metric. The metric I give a light spritz of Cat yellow paint so I can tell them at a glance. The 3/4 and 1" drives have their own boxes as there is just so much weight I want to carry.... or not.

I’m kinda thinking of putting them in some kinda plastic case with the foam inserts

I have a set I bought years ago when they came in a metal box. I like the box, but they seem to never have the size facing up. And when you take one socket out, the others roll into it's place so putting it back is not as simple as it could be.
The larger sizes don't fit on the upright organizers sold by HF and most others. The snap rails are probably the best option, but the newer socket packaging from HF isn't horrible to use until you decide.

The packaging on the Icon deep well sockets I bought would be OK for storage, but it stinks as a carrying case. It has a handle for carrying, but no latch to hold the case shut, so when you pick it up, the clear plastic front cover falls off, letting the sockets spill out.

A few months ago I ended up with a second hand HFT manual tire changer and used it for the first time over the last couple days. I took a 2x6 and screwed it to the top of a heavy duty pallet just over the middle board, split a 2x4 and put it on the sides so the cross has something to bolt to. The bead breaker part works ok, the two pieces of strap don't have enough lateral support which can be frustrating but wasn't too bad, 4 of the 8 tires I dealt with had bead glue holding them to the wheels which made it harder so I sat on the bar to keep some pressure then supplemented with the bead breaker chisel and 4lb mini sledge :).

I agree it isn't great and would probably be harder on some stubborn tires but it BEATS THE HECK out of other manual methods I've used in the past!

I got a couple of these at our Local Menard's store, for my "project tool box". Seems I have several sets of about everything, and instead of making numerou strips to get tools for a tractor tear down, I bought a small roll around tool box, and keep an assortment of wrenches, sockets, ratchet's, hammer's, etc. right there where I'm working on something. So far, it's been pretty handy. Could have made one out of wood, with wooden dowels to set socketdown over, but for the price, decided to go with this. It holds both regular, and deep well sockets, and sizes are marked on them. They have them in 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2". https://www.menards.com/main/tools/...971-c-9189.htm?tid=5184980736525578577&ipos=6

I found a similar socket tray at Rural King. For the price, they work in the tool box.

Not made to transport sockets. Just storage.

As the local Lowe痴 store reduced their Kobalt inventory, found a much more robust socket holder for the 1/4 drive sockets, other sizes were gone. Quite a bit more robust with a magnet in it to hold it to the drawer or keep the sockets in place if out of the box.
