Hardfacing rods

Try looking for the rods on ebay i saw some but cant remember what kind

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have a few questions. Can hardfacing be done with an AC stick machine? And if so are there particular rods to use? Run the beads uphill or downhill? Thanks!

I used to sell Stoody and I don't recall any AC Hard Surface Rods. Someone out there may sell them but I'm not sure who.

The answer is yes. I have an old Sears buzz box that only does AC (225amp) I do not recall the name of the rods, but they preferred to be used with DC. I used them with AC anyway and put them on the cutting edge of mower blades and scarifier teeth. It made a big difference in longevity. When I went to get more my supplier had discontinued them and told me Stainless Steel would work. Well, maybe better than nothing, but hardface rods are really good. I see that TSC now carries hardface rods that are AC or DC.
