The engine size on this class is 660cc. Japan sizes trucks by cc, we classify by weight.
The motor is located under the seat on a Suzuki & Mazda, behind the seat on a Daihatsu (owned by Toyota) and Mitsubishi, Honda is a mid engine, and Subaru is a rear engine. All are 3 cyl. except Subaru which is a 4 cyl. Each company has their own motors except Mazda which is a Suzuki with a Mazda horn button.
Top speed is around 60mph but most are speed limited to 25mph.
Fuel mileage is around 40mpg. Some people say they get 50-60mpg but they probably always catch 15lb bass
The red truck turned out pretty nice. The tube bumpers were built by Overkill Off-Road in Winnebago, IL, Docs upholstery did the seats, steering wheel is from Grant, I painted it and did the bright work.
I'll try to post some pictures of these motors/transmissions and happy to answer any other questions.
There is a good site on these trucks. minitrucktalk.com has hundreds of photos, comments, questions, and support for fans of these trucks. Another good site is utube. Just search mini truck drifting or mini truck snowplowing and all sorts of related mini truck videos will pop up.
I'm not an expert on these, just learning as I go. I just try to find a niche for them for different applications. How about a large round/square bale mover? ... something that can stage the bales to a central location for transport. I watched a local farmer tear the heck out of his alfalfa field moving the bales with a skid loader ... light went on ... nice winter project!
