That is very impressive to own a business like that,what is more impressive is to build/create and own a business like that. Aren't you a machinist as well ?

A part time hobby machinist. I received my Journeyman's card in tool and die making from Standard Products in Cleveland, Ohio after I graduated from high school and before the Navy back in '68. Along the way, I got sidetracked into trucking. So I am a full-time diesel dummy, part time farmer and part time machinist. I do own my own shop, complete with lathes, surface grinder and vertical mill as well as fabrication equipment. High precision machine tools are very expensive, but a lasting investment. I work at my own pace, as my own boss. My shop gives me a nice place to get away from reality. I don't believe that I'd ever want to command control or own for that matter, the size shop I mentioned in the earlier post. Too much hassle for me. I try to keep it as simple as possible. Makes for much more free time.
One really nice thing about having at my disposal, the machines I have as well as the knowledge to use them is that I can make parts and assemblies that would cost quite a bit of money and wait time, right away, for little money. Farmers around here know that I can make parts they need so like the movie said...."build it and they will come"

I like the sounds of your shop,and your setting your own pace in life.
There must be a lot of machinists from the Michigan area. A gentleman I know lived in Michigan for years and finally moved back home and has his own machine shop,it is a neat looking little place out in the country and he has a nice brick home about 5 miles up the road,he has made a good living him and his son working together.
