Wow, thanks guys. I went to a New Holland dealer yesterday, to grab an air filter for my cub cadet garden tractor(boooooo....), They had a TC24. Nice tractor, not too big not too small. No FEL, No belly mower, but I did not ask the price because if I talked to the salesman I probably would have been towing it home. Then the wife would have left me and child support for 3 kids would kill my tractor payment and therefore I would not have a tractor anyway. So I just went home. But I liked it. These CUT tractors like the JD 2210 just look like a toy. Yeah I probably could get by with it but to me I need between 24-30hp. I like the JD 790 but when you add a belly mower and a loader your talking 18k New. At least that was the MSRP off the Deere site. I have time on my side as far as getting one. I'm a little reluctant to buy used but when I look at Ebay, there are some nice ones(NH&JD) with everthing I need(belly and FEL) for under 15k.
I looked at the Kubota online and they are a beefy looking tractor but that orange just screams! I have an old 1967 Gravely and I hate the color.
Back blade will not level and rip the soil will it? That is what I thought a box blade with tines is for? My yard (woods now) has dips and waves. So I figure with the FEL and box blade I could level it out. **** might even go with plows and discs. A CUT tractor would not pull that. Friends tell me to just pay a dozer to come in but what fun would that be! I'm a wanna be farmer at heart but somehow ended up an Nurse(don't laugh, Galylord Flocker I'm not). So with your help at least I've narrowed it down a little. Tractors primary purpose will be mowing. Secondary is the FEL, snow soil.
Backhoe will be cheaper to rent!

Belly mowers 60" or 72" will the 72 scalp more?
FEL how much power(lift ratings) should be enough to push stone(2B), soil?
Anyone have a price on the NH TC24 with belly mower and FEL?
I'm going to check the NH board but if anyone can throw something out let me know. Also the JD 790 with belly and FEL?
Thanks again guys!

There should be plenty of postings here with "I just paid..." to give you a feel for pricing all the popular models from any of the brands. For a quick and real rough Deere "real world" number though, take 15% off the website MSRP. You should be able to get that as a street price - or even a little better in some areas of the country. The 790 is an extremely popular but "basic" tractor that offers a good value but is somewhat limited on the posh compared to the more deluxe current models. Although compared to that 8N it is a luxury model. All things are relative! /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Just to get the definitions straight so we are all talking the same things here.

A SUB-CUT is a super small compact utility tractor, it is what the JD2210 and Kubota BX series tractors would be considered. Generally they have about 22 ot 24 hp and they have MINIMAL ground clearance.

A CUT is a compact utility tractor. They are divided into roughly different sizes or classes. New Holland calls them CLASS 1, CLASS 2 or CLASS 3. Many people refer to Class 1 as a "small frame CUT.

The TC24, Kubota B7610, JD 4115, JD790 and Kioti CK20 are all "small frame" CUTS.

All of these will have adequate loaders for what you want to do, but the NH loader is probably the best, the CK20 loader is right there too, followed by the JD and the Kubota. But even the Kubota will move large piles (read that as a pile the size of a hill) from point "a" to point "b". From the perspective of "FEL" or Front End Loader work, I would say the TC24 is going to be the best choice.

For mowing with a Mid-Mount Mower, the Kioti will lag behind the group as it has lower available hp and the mower is reported to be undergoing some redesign to correct some performance issues. All will handle a 60" MMM but I don't think any will handle a 72" mower deck unless you have really sparce grass and live in a very arrid or very cold climate where grass is not an issue. As you said that mowing a prime concern, I would say the Kubota will be your best choice, it offers more HP per pound of gross weight than any of the other tractors, the CK20 will be on the other end of the scale offering the most weight and least HP available to the mower deck. For grass, weight is an issue, as soil compaction and rutting come into play. No question the Kubota will be the best mower. Make sure you can "pin up" the MMM deck, so you can do other work while leaving the MMM deck on the tractor. "Pinning up" a deck takes less 1 minute and keeps the deck from dropping when the 3pt hitch is used; virtually all modern decks come standard with a couple pins to do this. But when doing rough work, you'll still want to remove the deck so make sure it removes easily. (I will never give up my MMM now that I switched to one from a RFM). I honestly don't know if the JD790 will operate a MMM, but if it does, then I believe it has a bit more HP than the other models so it might be able to handle a 72" mower.

For box blading you have a traction issue. There weight & power are your friends. I honestly don't know what is better, power or weight, but both are important, weight is probably slightly more important. As the TC24 offers both weight and power, I would say it is probably the best overall choice, but the CK20 offers 300# more weight than the TC, while offering 12.5% less HP for pulling. The JD4115 would fall in line next, followed by the Kubota. But the JD790 might be the best of all the machines.

As for snow removal, that is a toss up. If you buy a snow blower you have multiple choices. The JD4115, NH TC and Kubota B all offer front snowblowers, those are excellent. I doubt you can get a front blower for the JD790 or the CK. For 1/2 the price of a front snow blower, you can get a rear 3pt blower, and there all 4 brands will power a rear blower, the CK being the least capable only because it has lower availble PTO hp. Now you have 2 other choices for snow removal, using a simple rear blade, typically turned backwards and run in reverse or you can use the FEL. All 4 will be equal with FEL snow removal unless you get hit with the mother of all snow storms, then, and only then, the Kubota might maybe lag behind a bit, but maybe not. With rear blade snow removal, weight is your friend, but for any snow that is going to be under 6" I don't think you'd find any real or practical advantage with any of the tractors.

As for smoothing your soil, yes a box blade with scarifier teeth will smooth the yard, but you will make a big mess of it before you get it smooth so be prepared to practice.

As for price, I suspect the only two that I think you can get new for $15,000 would be the 21hp CK20 and possibly the 24hp B7610.

Make sure the MMM raise and lower doesn't work off the 3 point! I had a Kubota B9200 with MMM and everytime I wanted to use a 3 point implement, I had to take the *%$@ thing off. When you'd lower the 3 point the mower lowered and scraped everything in rougher terrain, it was a pain. I know today they are easier to take off but I ended up with a RFM and ditched the MMM.

Bob provided an excellent summary of this size of tractor, I'll add just a few tidbits on the JD 790:

Deere still lists a mid-mount mower (60 inch), and a front snow blower (59 inch).

List price for a MFWD 790 set up for the loader and mid mower will be around $12.9K, loader - $3.1K, and mower - $2.6K. (Mid mounts are far more expensive than the equivalent size rear mounts since you pretty much have to go with the mfg. offering, there's no 3rd party competition.)

Total about $18.6K - less a guess of 15% discount - street price should be around $15.5K-$16K, not too far from your budget - but note that the 790 is *not* available as a hydro, which was on your wish list, only as a gear shift.

1st or all Welcome to the forum! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif and 2nd i think you would be happier with a CUT, NOT A SUB CUT. mainly for the Ground clearence. but i don'y think you are going to get one with all the implements you mentioned for $15 k, but you are right youw want mid 20 HP , hydro, and 4wd with Fel. then go from there.

1st) Make sure that ALL Wives and Kids are there to help with All the mowing and digging chores that the tractor would be doing.

2nd) You can get healthy discounts from some Deere dealers.

To Bob aand the others...THANK YOU FOR ALL THE HELP! I think I might hold off for awhile on buying new. The deal on the NH TC24DA is almost too good to pass up. I had a quote of $11700 on the tractor(ballast fluid add 150), 12LA loader $3300 plus $450 for quick attack(definately need that) and for the MMM 60" $2500.
Grand total 18049 not shure if tax was not included. I also priced the TC29DA with the above and that totaled $20850. I ran it by the wife and she said "if you spend 20k on a tractor then I'm buying a Vette" To which I retorted "A vette is not practical" Then it went in a few other directions but bottom line is yes I could afford it but don't want things to get tight. So mabye in the next year or so. But I'll keep my eyes open for a good used one, again time is on my side but there nothing like a new shiny tractor. Again thanks for all the help and advice. You guys are great. By the way any of the "modern tractors are luxury compared to a 8N" And to think I was my friends weight set for the discs for years.....LATER
