Hate WASTING beautiful trees

I would have some real nice scenic views if I was to cut some trees but what's wrong with looking at trees? At night when a thunderstorm moves through you can see them bending in the wind when the lightning lights up the sky. In the spring I like watching them bud. I gauge how far along spring is by how far along the leaves are. In the summer they do a real nice job blocking the stray noise. Once you cut them it'll take a lifetime before they come back.

Boeing, The lumber was band saw cut. It is not very rough at all. I have been told it should be air dried for at least 3 months and kiln dried before using in a home. (the kiln drying is to kill the bugs that may be living in it). There are a couple of small kilns in the north georgia area I have looked into for this. I need to make an appointment to get the lumber into the kiln. But, it is a long ride for me to go and load the lumber and deliver to the kiln, and again to pick it up again.

I have had probelms in the past with deveopers wanting to cut down trees to improve their views. Biggest problem was their land bordered mine and the trees they wanted to cut belonged to me. Had a developer call me up to remove a few trees for him. When I arrived at his site, he went to pointing at what he wanted to have cut. I asked him why did he want those trees cut and his answer was so he could have a view of the woods. being a smartazz, i asked him what he thought made up the woods, its trees you dummy. Then i went on to tell him that that painted line down where he wanted the trees removed was my property line and if he cut even one twigg I would charge him $600 per twig and stump that I could find. I would also charge him for any brush removeal that was left behind. In other words, leave the trees alone. Of course he thought I was being a hardbutt about it, and he didnt see anything wrong with removeing a "few" trees, so he could improve his view, even if the trees didnt belong to him.

I read an article years ago that addressed the problem your going thru. A land owner was also contemplating thinning some trees on his property to get a better view. He was also not doing it for the monetary value or to use the trees for lumber. His only reason was to improve his view. The wise writer of the article quoted a "rule" that had been passed along to him. If the tree is under 3 inches in diameter cut it down. 3 to 6 inches in diameter think about it overnight. 6 to 12 inches in diameter think long and hard about it. 12 inches or larger in diameter don't cut it. You will not live long enough to see a beautiful tree grow to that size from a sapling.
