Once you mature a little you will have better manners. The first step could be to stop bragging about past misdemeanors. You may have thought you were smart but such behaviour spoils the intended atmosphere for everyone one else. Don't be so self centered and think you have to have all the attention. It is time you start thinking about others.

I really don't want to get into an arguement over this, and have a very nice thread closed, but I don't appreciate you thinking what I post on TBN is exactly the same I do everything. I post some stupid stuff, but the thing is that I will never do that again because I have learned my lesson. I don't go out and party like most other teenagers, cause I work. When the time comes, I do some stuff like drinking responsibly with an adult present.

Smart. I have done some stupid stuff as posted, but does that mean I haven't done anything smart. I'll have you know I've taken several farm safety classes, and get mostly A's and B's in school. I take education seriously, and although I'd rather not do it, I do it anyway.

I don't feel I need attention. I've been raised with limited attention towards me. I have a brother and a sister, younger cousins and two nieces, I don't get much attention, while there's a gathering at my house, I am outside working. I do some stuff that no one else will do and I have sprained ankles and wrists helping people who have gotten into trouble or were about to. I've seen alot and know that I have alot. I come from a wealthy family, and I'm glad, but that doesn't mean I don't care about others.

I don't appreciate you talking about me like that when you don't even really know me.

I used to wear a cheap straw cowboy hat until i wore it in the wind last weekend. I was pulling it down to tighten it onto the old mellon and pulled the brim off down around my neck. Dadgummit! I guess I'll have to get another.

Gee whiz Kyle, I don't know where that post came from. Someone's having a bad day i suppose.

KYLE : .....hey man, are you sure you're "only" thirteen???

I don't get to many $500.+ dinners, . . but I must admit my hat never comes off but thats because my head being a tad shiny on top is also a bit of a mess so, (aside from my ponytail), I don't put it on display.

Sure I've had "ladies" approach me in a fine dining establishment and reminded me that a hat at dinner was against the rules of proper etiquette. So rather than lift the hat and embarrass the person, I simply make a joke and hope they'll soon leave. (I'll ignore "their" rudeness).

I have various hats for various functions. Switch back and forth twixt Cowboy Stetson and John Deere ball cap and my old military beret for church etc, . . but "always" a hat for me.

Be careful out there ! (--Hill Street Blues)

Manners is something that seems to be missing here in some folks . Its the internet By the way  . Why You choose to pick Kyle out kubotafan is beyond Me , unless of coarse You,ve lived a sheltered life & have never made or admitted to a mistake at a young age .

Sorry But Kyle shows more maturity then a lot here . You might take the time to look at the web page in His signature & You might have a better Understanding of Him & what he,s about . Just My opinion . Bob

BTW , to stay on topic . I wear a cowboy hat when I do wear a hat . Mainly in the winter to keep the heat in , Summertime to keep my last 2 hairs out of my eyes .

I'm not here to point fingers but when I ws growing up, we were taught to remove our hat/cap, etc when we walked in the door and never, never, wear a hat at the dinner table... perhaps old fashioned but that's how a I was taught... rightly or wrongly...
As an aside, I mostly wear a wide brimmed hat, cuz this Texas sun is brutal...

I asked several waitress' in a couple different resturants about a month ago, if they knew just when men stopped removing their hats when they entered a resturant. Seems the general time frame was thought to be somewhere around the mid 80's to early 90's.
I seldom wear a hat, but when I do, it is a large brim ugly camo thing I picked up in one of those overpriced outdoor chain stores, mainly to keep the sun off my face. To make my Dad think he didn't completely waste his time trying to teach me manners, I remove it when entering a building, especially a resturant.

Hopefully, his manners will mature with his age.

You soak the Mira-cool pads, hats, etc in cold water for about 1/2 an hour before using them. Give them a quick squeeze to get the excess water out and your good to go. How long between recharging them with water depends on how hot it is, how breezy it is, etc. You won't get an ice-cream headache from them; but I've found them helpful in high temps.

Thanks. I thought they must be made to soak in cool water. May be worth ordering a couple.

Please excuse me for steppin in so often here, but you guys keep giving me thoughts: yes I have an entire ball cap made of that stuff you soak in cool water, squeeze out the excess and wear it in the hot sun a while before doing it again. Its great on those very hot days when stuck out in the sun!!

Also, just wanted to "justify" and "excuse" my "bad" manners regarding wearing hats indoors. Oh yes, I was raised by an extremely "strict" father who was just about as unforgiving of bad manners as possible. So I am "well" aware of the hat rules especially in the dining room.

Then much of my working life, was also spent in strict compliance with rules and "manners", . . so yes I really practiced the manner thing from birth till the day I was finally released from Society's "MANNERS" and began living life for "ME", . . stopped shaving and visiting the Barber and began wearing a hat when and where "I" decided, ..etc, etc, etc, and so on !!

Oh yes I still shower, wear clean clothes and am polite and honourable in most situations, . . BUT, I am MUCH, MUCH more relaxed in my old age. It is very rarely that I offend people on purpose, . . but if I offend anyone by wearing my hat in a restaurant,...or "any"where else, my apologies!

I also got too much sun in my youth and had a couple of small skin cancer spots diagnosed and removed when I was in my thirties.

For me it's a wide brim hat, specifically a Tilley model T4. It goes everywhere I go.

I also have a couple of the white long sleeve shirt/jacket things with a high SPF rating. I prefer a mechanical sun protection solution over the chemical sun screens that you put on your skin.

Although my kids don't like them, I too like the Tilley hats. I have a LTM8 and LTM3. Tough hats. Those are for working outside. Otherwise I'm a ball cap guy. I have dozens.
