I just want to make everybody aware off another problem from the sun. I go back to the VA today for a Freckle in my eye. Two day search they say the freckle may be melanoma.
Up in the morning and looking outside you see it's gonna be a hot/bright sunny day...You've got a lot of field to work...What hat are you gonna wear to help keep the sun out? Cowboy? Ball cap? Other? (Canopies don't count)

I wear my hardhat when using the gas trimmer and I have one of these in it for hot days.

Do you soak that pad in water or does it just absorb sweat?
I personally like the Atwood Palm Leaf hats.
Cowboy Hats by Atwood Hats - palm leaf, shantung, wool cowboy hats - The Hat That Cowboys Wear
They seem some what indestructible. I bought my 2 year old boy one for Christmas this year and if it can hold up to him it can hold up to anything!

You soak the Mira-cool pads, hats, etc in cold water for about 1/2 an hour before using them. Give them a quick squeeze to get the excess water out and your good to go. How long between recharging them with water depends on how hot it is, how breezy it is, etc. You won't get an ice-cream headache from them; but I've found them helpful in high temps.
