I take it some are not experience running seriously over loaded from time to time. Not ideal but for 80 miles once a year I would make do.

Got into a towing issue last month with the S-10 and 12' single axle flat trailer hauling 25 16' cattle panels and 50 T posts. I though the T posts up front would counter the 4' over hang. Time was short so we did not grab the 16' flat dump plus the 429 sucks gas.

We had 18 miles to go and got in trouble the first half mile. The total weight was not the issue as much as misbalanced load. At 40 MPH all was well and stable, at 42 there was a wiggle and a major dance at 45 MPH so I drove 40 for the last 17.5 miles. :)

If you are hauling it 80 miles a day doing 70 MPH get a larger truck or smaller tractor should be considered in my view.

All good points guys. It's a business thing. I got more revenue in the the 8 months than I planned for. May have to spend a bit to save a few bucks. It's a funny game to play.

But this trailer was made by one guy who was trying to make a light trailer. He thinks its no more than 4k. The tractor with FEL and cab is in the 8k range.

Yes it might make more sense to have it hauled or just drive it. But i tend not to make sense.

If you are going to be towing 12k a 1/2 ton should be okay for occasional use like you described.

Just because you can tow it, doesn't mean you should

1/2 ton ride ??? I would get a 3/4 ton new ford with 17" wheels and your choice of motor no snow plow or heavy service packages or off road packages. Ie small rims more tire rides better. Or add full air ride to the rear of the truck to help the ride, not helper bags.

Curious, has anyone done this? Or know of anyone that has. I've never really heard of this being done on a pickup. I'm used to it on my big rig.

In Maine, you kinda count how old your vehicle is in "dog years", that is years X 7.

My pickup(2006) is "almost" new condition to everything else up here. I bought it 2 yrs ago down in VA. Still **** near rust free. If I buy used again it will be from Va or further south.

Lift Kits | Kelderman
I didn't poke around on their site but I think that they do have a "non lift" system. Are the new 150's still leaf's in the rear?

VA is getting bad with salt. They use that stupid brine water to pretreat. What a mess that stuff makes. I guess it is not as bad as what you deal with. Usually we stay away from anything from PA and farther north.
