I'm shopping around for a small JD tractor. The literature calls them compact utility tractors and I've looked at the 3005, 3032, 3038E, 3520 and 4105. The only attachment I'm looking at buying with the tractor is a front end loader. I presently have a 1972 Ford 3000 with a 6' King Cutter bush hog. My primary use for the new tractor will be some loader work and mowing 30 acres of fescue.

I'll let you know which one I choose. Have got to act before the 0% interest program ends!

that's quite a lineup of choices you have! i think you are really going to like the 3032 and 3038 tractors for what you're wanting to do. they have the ehydro and fel that are not removable(in your case this would be ideal since you want it strictly for loader work). they offer alot of tractor for the money!

With a 6ft bush hog, I would try to rule out the small 2. That's the 3005 and 3032e. Also, the 3520 would be cutting it close. What would be you be cutting? Tall grass, medium grass, light brush, thick brush? If medium grass or light brush, the 3520 would be plenty fine. I would take high consideration into 3038e and 4105 as they have higher hp than the 3520 and similar pricing to the 3520 if I'm not mistaken.

Kyle, read the last sentence in the OP's post, he said 30 acres of fescue.

You also might look at the 5000 series. Pricing is good and for 30 acres would work good also.

I recently purchased a 3038e & have been very impressed with it. Loads of power, nice loader, & hydro. It's hard to beat considering it's around $17k.

I've narrowed my choices down to the 4105 and the 4120 (a new entry). The dealer is working on his best price for the 4xxx series.

Thanks for pointing that out, I missed that. But with his new post, he's fine with a 6ft.

That's seems better.

Uncle Wayne,

I agree the 4105 or 4120 would be a better choice. For your needs and uses a fixed loader should work well for you.

I have been debating a 4105 vs. 4120 also.

Either will spin a 6' shredder. The big deal for me - the 4105 takes the smaller front end loader. The 4105 is essentially the old 990 with hydro.

For what you are doing 4120 e-hydro (if you like that trans) with the 400X loader.

Something else to look at - cruise control. These e=hydro machines you have to hold the pedal down - that can get old. Not like a gear tractor where you set the gear combo and the throttle.
