Have these people ever heard of loctite?

Wow there are a whopping 31 thousand souls in Gillette or about half of Cheyenne, #2, where I once lived.
While I live close to what they call a city, with only 3000 souls it sure ain't no city which is why I like it. There are about 13 thousand in the town next door and that's barely tolerable. I've lived in too many cities for too long and don't wanna live in any more of them. No matter where they are, I've found that all cities suck. They attract and concentrate all the undesirable elements so the bigger they are the more they suck. I recommend you stay in the country and smaller towns where people tend to be decent and you have some elbow room.

Gillette is losing people at an alarming rate. 3000-4000 jobs have been lost in the last 18 months due to the decline in coal and oil.

Must be coal and the Bakken shale thing is close too along with the lower price of oil. It's on the way back up again so it's only temporary. They need lots of coal to run all of those clean electric cars. LOL They'll generally keep it up there until it's all almost gone. Remember Al Gore is your friend. LOL

Who else remembers paying about 20 cents a gallon at the pump? At that price they also pumped the gas, checked your oil, swept out your car and gave you a dish or green stamps. We've come a long way baby.

I don't believe a liquid loctite is very effective on anything over 7/8, going to want to use lock nut.

Looks like they make a tape, i can't see production taking the time to use a tape.
Issue with using a lock nut is a true accurate torque is not possible IMO.:2cents:

I guess I could use the black stuff and put a torch to it if it ever needed to be disassembled.
I think it was just loose from the distributor however. Both on one side were loose, actually one came off. None of the backhoe fasteners, subframe etc. have witness marks while all the bolts for loader does. My guess is they just slapped the backhoe on it very quickly and pushed it out the door. In fact they could have just stuck it on there for me to see and test drive and never got around to doing it up proper. It went from the distributor across town to the dealer, then on a trailer and up to my place and no one ever bothered to check it or even torque the fasteners the way they should have been. I assume the witness marks are from some sort of a QC process. As there are none for the hoe that's telling.

every nut/bolt on my tractor had a 'witness' mark put on it to signify that it had been checked. Ive checked them all myself and none went loose.

Ditto on my JD 4105... little black marks on every bolt. And the marks haven't budged in over 360 hrs. Maintenance torque checks = zero movement.

Based on the info above if it was mine, I would stay away from the black loctitie not a fan of loctite for anything over 1/2 inch, the black stuff for getting apart not my idea of a good time. Chances are you are correct on the assembly errors. IMO i would go with stock hardware torque it then put Torque seal on the nut. That way you can see it the nut moved. Like the stuff, google it, I use it quite a bit. Do feel your pain!
