Re: Have you had warranty issues? Don\'t Buy John Deere
Actually I didn't have time to read this entire thread earlier, so I didn't want to comment before doing so.
There are two issues here, both of which I have the same position on that I have always had:
1) Using TBN as a means to defame a dealer or company isn't allowed. We are not a consumer rights organization. There are many ways to resolve "issues" you are having with a company, including that company's own customer relations department, as well as appropriate state agencies and business agencies.
We can in fact learn a lot from cases in which warranty service is denied due to operator error or aftermarket modifications to a tractor or attachments. But, rarely is a case of that nature presented in a manner that won't result in argument.
I would love to see those types of threads, but the reality is that after you get off the phone with the dealer who says the manufacturer isn't going to fix xyz problem because it's your fault (read the warranty booklet), the first thing you want to do is rant about it and get a lot of people to sympathize with you.
Unfortunately, we can't entertain such threads. In addition to the obvious potential legal issues for the posters of libelous statements, it is below our standards for content.
We play some threads by ear, so to speak, to give them a chance and see where the discussion goes before declaring it useless to our forum.
2) In general, threads tend go bad when there are two camps of opinion on one controversial issue. You wind up with needless bickering and plenty of rude comments, not to mention ignorant comments that people wind up regretting later on. Not a very friendly environment. Nit picking creates a mood we don't like, and have never supported.
This isn't about 'censorship.' The first posts ever removed from this forum were removed because users requested that they be removed to uphold a level of decency, maturity, and respect. We don't do this to keep busy. We do it to offer the highest possible quality of content, and the most friendly and knowledgeable community.
While most of the responsibility of keeping this a friendly, helpful place lies on the shoulders of the users, we as moderators do have to step in from time to time and get the ship back on course. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif
However, as the community continues to grow, this becomes somewhat difficult when so many users want things to be done their way. What some might fail to see is that the management and moderation we do is for the benefit, not detriment, of the forum, and always has been. Please remember that.
