Yea, didn't think about them scamming the phone company or putting it on someone's bill.

It would be nice if you could press a button that would send an electrical shock down to the other end of the line. Be useful, not only to scammers but....

I suppose that's a possibility however many (most?) folks these days have unlimited free long distance in any event. Even if offshore there's other IP phone options that can avoid charges.

I just wish I could get GOOGLE to stop Robo calling me to update my business listing..

Yeah, the scam Google calls are particularly annoying:

Google does not:

• ​charge for inclusion in Google My Business or in Google Search.
• offer to improve your search ranking or manage your business online profile.
• ask you for your password or verification code. You should never provide sensitive information about your account (like your password and verification code) to a caller.

If you receive a robo call call placed with a recorded voice or any of the above reasons, it is not from Google. The Federal Trade Commission has established a Robocalls resources website with additional information about robocalls and steps you can take if you receive one.

My wish is a button that would lock their phone as active on the call and unable to end it. Off course it has to also disconnect from my phone.

Y'all boys are doing good. We must still have a house phone, but I keep the ringer off. Simple. People can leave a message, very few do. Same as some of y'all - I NEVER answer from a call not in my address book. I've trained all in my family that EVERYTHING incoming was not asked for. Everything. It's an intrusion into our lives, uninvited and DO NOT let them inside. A few scammers are so stupid they even leave a message. I reckon some people are more stupid and call back. Not us. We as hard hearted as a *****.

From today's newspaper... I don't think it would work on "us" but let elderly people know about.

"...Scammers call people and, impersonating a deputy sheriff, threaten them with prosecution over failure to comply with jury summons. Victims are then asked to obtain prepaid financial cards and convey the account information, which scammers use to siphon funds from the cards..."

A friends Mom had already got the money transfers, waiting for the courier when her son caught wind of it. Said they were the Police, he had caused an accident, cell phone damaged, and (of course) needed money!

He is in IT and showed me how he can make anything come up on ones Caller ID. That would be enough to fool most people.

Those Bas#$#$ actually left me a message saying that it was Revenue Canada and that if I didn't call them, a warrant would be issued for my arrest! It was quite authoritative sounding.

I haven't clicked on any links, so maybe this was already mentioned. On the local radio station, the said to beware of a new scam that is happening. You get a call that asks if you can hear their voice. You reply by saying yes, and then the call ends. A week later, you get a call claiming that you owe money for agreeing to a plan and they play your voice saying yes to you. It's gotten enough people that it's now become an issue.
