You guys are causing me to have an itch that I thought I had gotten rid of.
I still want a small tractor, something along the lines of a 7800 to go with the 3240. So far, I've managed to keep that at bay.
The 5740 might just aggravate that itch a bit more but I still have to resist it.
My first Kubota was a B2910. I loved that little tractor. Sometimes wanted more HP but got along so well I couldn't justify it. I also had a JD455 to mow our huge lawn with.
My shop burned and I lost both tractors. So I used that opportunity to increase in size. I replaced the JD455 with a JD2210 to do mowing chores. I replaced the Kubota B2910 with a Kubota L4400.
I was all excited about the change. But for the first few months it sucked. When I got on the JD2210 I complained to myself at how it wouldn't do what the B2910 did. When I got on the L4400 I complained about how it was too big and bulky.
I've adjusted after 18 months of use. I'm now very content with the L4400's size. If I have a smaller chore to do I pull out the JD2210. I pull the 5ft box blade with the JD2210 that I used to pull with the B2910. I upsized my implements from 5ft to 6ft to use on the L4400. For my needs I'll not go bigger.
For a wide variety of uses I think it would be real hard to just have one tractor. I'm very blessed to be able to have two sitting in the shop. I'm also very blessed to not be making payments on either so it doesn't bother me if one sits for a month without being used. I've owned the L4400 for 18 months and only put on 100hrs.
Good luck to you in your decision!!!
