I have noticed a distinct trend with some TBN Members. When they first come to the message forums with a problem, they will post feverishly about the problem looking for advise and some form of vindication, or reassurance of what they are doing or not doing. If that thread gets a lot of activity, at the end of the time period the poster will just disappear. I wonder what causes this phenomena??? Two posts come to mine immediately, but I have seen this trend quite often. One is the Kubota hood mystery dent and the other one is the Kubota that was stuck on the steep hill in the woods of NC. I can see it starting on another thread also. In this particular instance the poster made a comment that "appears" to be offensive to a particular group of people, but wouldn't raise a hair in the wind in any other setting. I can see some other members starting to "run off" the poster because of a difference of opinion. When I first came to the forums, I got the same treatment from some members..... trying to run me off... however in the end, I decided that it was better to stay and defend my views than to leave. Why is it that some feel the necessity to be hostile and make some others "unwelcome"????? It is only a small number out of many, but even one is too many in my opinion... I may be harsh in some of my posts, but I don't direct them at the person directly, but to the post specifics. I don't feel that it is necessary to go after people for differences of opinion... Why do you think some leave the forums after one or two posts?????

Not related, but I have not seen GlueGuy post in a long time. Does anyone know what happened to him?

I think a lot of people come here for information still.

Yes, this is a discussion board, but a lot of people don't need that.

I come here for information first, converstation second, opinions third.

I think in many cases the post takes on a life of its own, bearing no resemblance to the original topic. Back in the days when you could modify the title of a thread it was possible to simply ignore those different directions. For me, personally, if I'm interested in the original topic but it takes a left turn, I often stop visiting that thread. Pete

If you don't get involved in the pseudo community here it really is just a source of information. It is common accross all specialized / technical forums on the net.

If you have a question and you search all over the net, posting in 2 or 3 places and only following the replies, you don't have time to learn each site.

You'll see this often when people are selling things, they won't read the classified rules and just post.

Usually when they have a question again they'll come back if they bookmarked the site.

As you can see from my large # of posts /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif, I don't have a lot to say, but that doesn't mean I don't read alot. I visit TBN every day during the week and search by posts of the past 24 hours. Of those, more than 50% usually peak my interest, and those are what I read.
I could be wrong (usually am /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) but I think there are alot of TBNer's out here just like me.

There is just too much good information on this site to pass it up!

Thanks for being there for us 'lurkers', and please keep up the good work.

( but I think there are alot of TBNer's out here just like me. )

I am sure you are correct. Just like talk radio....there are alot of listeners compared to the number of callers.

Didn't we all start as lurkers ??

Junkman, I look at the TBN 'Community' like a small town community that is growing. There are the members who are often in the front ( the community leaders so to speak ) who always have wisdom, comments, or opinions and are happy to take the time to share them. Then you have the group of regulars ( the majority of citizens ) who are active, but spend less time directly interacting. Finally you have the folks who watch from the background.

It takes all sorts. Some of us just may have more time or ability to interact regularly.

I personnaly like to check in a few times a day and like to offer comments when I feel I have had experience that would allow me to help.
