A few years ago , posted a thread about 1 lone lightning strike the entire day , hit a 70' + tall , over 100 year old pine that " WAS " 20' from our house . Called these guys that our neighbors had used . Two ( 2 ) older gentlemen showed up , One belted up and started up , taking limbs down as he went . Got to the top and started blocking as he came down . 3 hours , $300 and had 3 neat piles of limbs plus a Whole lot of rounds that I eventually got split . Still burning that pine every winter as we only use it for starter wood . Base of tree was 3' + in diameter , but these Men made it look like a simple walk in the park . House was only 20' west , Utility pole / main breaker was only 20' northeast , Shop about 40' north , so although I have fell bigger tree's , not in that close of an area .
Before that house , use to be a mobile home back in the early 2000's . To move it out and make room for new house , had to take down 2 similar pine's in front yard on opposite side of house that above pine was at . One had grown so much that it was maybe a foot from side of mobile and had actually buckled skirting at bottom of mobile . Those 2 , I did myself as I had gravity working in my favor also since they went downhill from house . Let's just say that it " Woke " the Neighborhood when those hit the ground . It is nothing to hear a chainsaw at 7 or 8 in the morning around here , But when Several tons of tree come thumping down , it got people's attention .
It is better to pay a few coin and have everything still normal after tree's are down than to be to gungho and pay big $$$$ later .
